Stopped here when touring Italy, the location is excellent although a little difficult to initially find, so look at the directions and map on the website. Rooms are fantastic!just like being in a old palace. We had a room facing the sqaure, with double aspect windows, bathroom is well set out and has everything you need.Breakfast was good quality and...

Chosen because of the reviews on Trip advisor and I wasn't disappointed. Its a small hotel, friendly staff with a first class location. Close to Rialto 5 mins but close enough to walk to San Marco. Yes its difficult to find, the is through 'sotoportego' (tunnel) so look before you go but don't let it put you off, its worth...

My 13 year old son and I spend 5 days in Venice. The hotel is perfect located to explore the city and still in a quiet neighbourhood. It was very easy to find do to the video they emailed a few days before our arrival. The staff was absolutely service minded and very helpful. The room was clean and just...

This is a lovely hotel in a excellent location, situated between Rialto and St Marks Sq. The room had a view over the local square, although the main entrance is at the rear of the hotel. Room was large, clean and comfortable, there is A/C in the room with tea and coffee making facilities and a minibar. There are many...

My husband and I just returned from Italy and while in Venice stayed at Ca'Bragadin Carabba. The staff was extremely helpful and the rooms quite spacious with good air conditioning; which was a life saver with their current heat wave! It was fairly close to the water taxi and there were numerous small shops and restaurants very nearby. We did...

We liked the quiet location of this hotel. It was an easy walk to all the main attractions in Venice. It was also a short walk to the water taxis. The staff were all very helpful. This was our first ever stop in Europe so we did have quite a few questions! The room was quiet, clean and comfortable.

This hotel was a good find thanks to trip advisor! The location of the hotel is great in relation to the rialto bridge only being a 5 minute walk and the san marco square is about 10 minutes away. It was a little tough to find originally but using our taxi drivers help it was no big deal. The room...

About as central as you can get (about 4 minutes walk from the Realto Bridge), this hotel is very nice, clean and is exceptionally well run by a very obliging staff. We arrived on our last stop in Italy and got a double upgrade to a large suite. The largest room we had in our trip (by a huge margin)...

I really enjoyed my stay here. The staff were welcoming and very helpful with info about the local area. The room was fantastic - really clean and loads of space - and the Italian breakfast was delicious. It is in an ideal location as it is just off of the busy tourist streets but everything is within easy walking distance....

Staying in Castello

Neighbourhood Profile
Castello
Castello is the largest of the six sestieri (districts), and the only one not facing onto the Grand Canal. More than half of Castello is situated within Arsenale, the naval base, which occupies over one-fifth the area of Venice. This gentrified maritime neighbourhood feels busy but casual. Castello’s side streets are laid back, with small boats lining canals criss-crossed by laundry. Semiannual exhibitions add a strong artsy current to the Arsenale area. Via Garibaldi in Castello, with its shops and bars, has one of Venice's rare straight and wide boulevards. When a large ship turns around the Lido to enter the Giudecca Canal, the startling sight creates an illusion that it will run aground right on Via Garibaldi! Families treasure Giardini near the island's tip, green with rare trees and grass, and Riva degli Schiavoni is a popular spot for Venetians to take a stroll to watch the sunset.
