The Ca' Bragadin Carabba is not the easiest hotel to find in Venice but then again, nothing except the grand canal in Venice is easy to find. The hotel is down a small walkway with a tiny lit plaque next to the door. The security door opens to a foyer with the check in upstairs. Our room was magnificent -...

Central location staff very friendly cheerfull and helpful. Would stay again if and when we return. Can be noisy at night with late revellers if windows open due to sound raising up in alleyways. Instructions for finding the first time, although good, could be more specific as alleyways all look similar and change names.

We have stayed here on a number of occasions and we love it . Wonderful location - close to the Rialto, San Marco, etc. The rooms are beautiful and spacious and we always receive a great welcome from Umberto.

If you're willing to make do without an elevator in order to experience a unique small hotel in the Rialto just a short walk from Piazzo San Marco (Saint Mark's Square) you should love this place. Very romantic. It feels like a real part of the history and atmosphere of old Venice but with comfortable beds and modern amenities; purportedly...

My wife and I stayed for a full week, and Umberto and the rest of the staff ensured every need was met. He really knows Venice, as well as the surrounding islands. He gave great advice and even helped arrange side trips. Great location and beautiful hotel! Thanks Umberto! We will never forget you!

As stated the location is excellent but it's. very noisy ( from the street) at nighttime and early morning even on the 3 rd floor. Staff are very friendly and the complimentary umbrellas came in handy to borrow. It is advertised as a luxurious hotel and is priced accordingly but I would describe it as functional and spartan and comfortable...

We stayed here for three nights during our trip to Venice. The hotel itself is a little hidden, with the entrance in an alleyway of sorts. It was quite difficult finding it, but thank goodness for google maps. Once we did find it, we were greeted by friendly staff and a large room with a balcony overlooking a square. The...

This is not an easy place to find. We wandered quite a bit, but that is more about Venice than the place itself. The hotel is lovely and full service. The room was clean and quiet. Breakfast if offered but at a steep additional proce and you have to decide the night before.

Excellent value for money. Staff exceptionally helpful and friendly. We were on the first floor and had assistance with our luggage on arrival and departure. The room was quite spacious and comfortable and the bathroom clean and well appointed, serviced every day with fresh towels and bed linen changed once during our 4-day visit. We were in room 202 which...

This hotel was wonderful - reasonably priced compared to some other places we looked at. Within a 10 minute walk of all the main sights. The room was comfortable - we had room 205 which opens on to the lobby, but the sound from this isn't a problem at all and you wouldn't know it was there. Lovely views on...

Staying in Castello

Neighbourhood Profile
Castello is the largest of the six sestieri (districts), and the only one not facing onto the Grand Canal. More than half of Castello is situated within Arsenale, the naval base, which occupies over one-fifth the area of Venice. This gentrified maritime neighbourhood feels busy but casual. Castello’s side streets are laid back, with small boats lining canals criss-crossed by laundry. Semiannual exhibitions add a strong artsy current to the Arsenale area. Via Garibaldi in Castello, with its shops and bars, has one of Venice's rare straight and wide boulevards. When a large ship turns around the Lido to enter the Giudecca Canal, the startling sight creates an illusion that it will run aground right on Via Garibaldi! Families treasure Giardini near the island's tip, green with rare trees and grass, and Riva degli Schiavoni is a popular spot for Venetians to take a stroll to watch the sunset.
