if you're looking for a budget stay in Venice, look no further! you will love the location! it's so italian! San polo is one of the most beautiful districts in Venice. There is a supermarket 2 min walk from the hotel, nice italian cafe's, the bus station is 5 min walk away. We were exlporing the city by walk, so... More

Excellent location, the rooms were clean, and for a good price. Although it was a shared bathroom, the bedroom had a sink, which was very helpful. It was very bare, they didn't even do the beds when you moved in, they just gave you the sheets. The shared bathroom was clean but super bare, and with water everywhere (thankfully, just... More

Perhaps we were foolish to venture into Venice at the height of a summer, and a very hot one at that, but Domus Civica proved an almost unbearable place to be in the sticky humidity. It is not a bad place: rooms are clean, and washing facilities are functional given the price. But the total lack of air conditioning made... More

We booked 3 nights and stayed just 1 and left. The beds are dirty and not comfortable at all, we found hair and dead bugs in our beds and linen. They do not provide with any kind of ventilation so, if you go there in summer (as we did) heat and humidity make it impossible to sleep. Curfew is from... More

I had high hopes for this hostel and was looking forward to having my own room for a few nights. I ended up leaving after the second night (out of three) because I was being bitten to death by mosquitoes. This although I was keeping the windows closed (despite a suffocating lack of AC) and killing all the bugs before... More

Location - very difficult to find. I got lost everytime I stepped out. Rooms : Nice large clean and well ventilated. But no ac , no fan. You have to take fans from reception. And im summer it doesn't help much. Staff : Good and friendly Kitched : Ok, but you can do some cooking. Around : some nice restaurants... More

The location is good and staff also cool. There was some noise from outside in nights, room was clean but there was some kind of wooden smell when I entered the room. Toilet was clean. I still prefer it because of value for money.

I think one of the cheapest places to stay while visiting Veniceand probably just as good or better then many of the more expensive hotels. Ok so I'm positive about this place but I'll also tell you about the smaller down sides: - they have some weird rule between 0:30 and 7am nobody can get in or out of the... More

Staying in San Polo

Neighbourhood Profile
San Polo
The Rialto Bridge is the most famous sight along the Grand Canal in San Polo, smallest of Venice's six sestieri (districts) and by far the busiest neighbourhood. Morning Venetians arrive to peruse the markets for fish, fruit and vegetables, while shops display goods from cheese to wine to desserts. San Silvestro and Rialto Market vaporetto (water taxi) stops add to the steady stream of foot traffic. San Polo is defined by churches including Basilica dei Frari, one of the most important churches sought by art lovers.
