Very pleasant hotel. In a quiet and residential area of Venice with an excelent access to Vaporetto station. 20 minutes of a pleasant walk to St. Mark Square acrros the great channel. Nice, confortable and elegant room with a wonderful bathroom. Very good breakfast and helpful staff. Definetely if I come back to Venice I'll stay again. Highly recommended.

We only stayed for 1 night, accomadations were clean and pretty. Breakfast was great. There is a little cafe around corner for drinks and dinner. We were 10 in our group and had a great time. Would love to have stayed longer. Great location away for everything but near enough to walk to St. Marks. Fortunato's in Florida

Fabulous hotel. So well located in a quiet part of Venice, but within comfortable walking distance of San Marco etc. The room was superbly appointed, the breakfast was delicious, and served up to 11.00am, which is very flexible. It was delicious also. The staff were very friendly and professional. We will be back.

This was our second stay at this hotel and excellent as ever. The breakfast is the best we have had in Venice. The rooms are very spacious don’t often get this in Venice. The hotel is in a quite location about 15-20 minutes’ walk to St.Mark’s if you feel lazy you can easy catch the vaparetto. There is a family...

Choosed BW Premier Sant'Elena as alternative to all the small hotels, which are perhaps located more in centre but also have high prices. Given that we anyway avoid Piazza San Marco for meals and other breaks, this hotel was ideal to stay at - even that it is not a typical "charming" venetian hotel. But location is very nice in...

We stayed at this hotel for 3 nights in a junior suite - over a long weekend. It is a very conveniently located hotel, 3 stops away from Piazza San Marco and approx. 20 mins walk. We actually preferred the location as it is right next door to the 'Bienale' and opposite the Lido island - plus not as cramped...

We really loved this hotel. It wasn't in the centre, but there was vaperetto-stop just a few 100 metres from it. But you can easily do all the tourist must-sees by foot (like we did, because the vaporetto isn't that cheap), and the biennale is really nearby..It was also very relaxing to come back in the evening, from a busy day...

Staying in Castello

Neighbourhood Profile
Castello is the largest of the six sestieri (districts), and the only one not facing onto the Grand Canal. More than half of Castello is situated within Arsenale, the naval base, which occupies over one-fifth the area of Venice. This gentrified maritime neighbourhood feels busy but casual. Castello’s side streets are laid back, with small boats lining canals criss-crossed by laundry. Semiannual exhibitions add a strong artsy current to the Arsenale area. Via Garibaldi in Castello, with its shops and bars, has one of Venice's rare straight and wide boulevards. When a large ship turns around the Lido to enter the Giudecca Canal, the startling sight creates an illusion that it will run aground right on Via Garibaldi! Families treasure Giardini near the island's tip, green with rare trees and grass, and Riva degli Schiavoni is a popular spot for Venetians to take a stroll to watch the sunset.
