We stayed in the hotel for two nights, the location is perfect, the hotel personnel is very nice and the hotel was nice and clean. We had a big room with a balcony on the canal so we were very happy. The only negative point is the breakfast which is not good at all, but we had low expectations given...

Arrived in Venice and knew the hotel was s fair walk from the train station, so, ferry or water taxi?? We, family of four with 2 teenagers, decided to lash out and get water taxi, best decision. Couldn't drop us directly to the hotel dock, but dropped us a short walk and only cost 60euro, a beautiful way to arrive....

We booked this hotel through Trip Advisor and when we arrived they had no record of our booking. Disaster right? Not quite. They apologized even though it wasn't their fault, provided us drinks and snacks and said give them a few minutes and they'd figure something out. What they did was find us a room at a nearby hotel with...

We had a fabulous time in Venice and Hotel dell'Opera made sure that it was everything we had hoped it to be. Lovely staff and a welcoming bottle of wine set the tone. Nothing was any problem and air conditioned rooms were a plus against the heat of Venice

If you're interested in a classic and intimate hotel experience, Venetian style look no further than Hotel dell' Opera. A personable staff, lovely and spacious rooms and a good breakfast make this a pleasant respite. The cozy roof top patio with an honor bar gives this hotel a welcome added advantage over its many neighbors. Live large for an amazingly...

Our wedding anniversary was made complete with our stay at Dell'opera. Our room was upgraded and what a lovely room. Very clean and spacious. Bathroom lovely. Continental breakfast was excellent. All the staff were very helpful and friendly. I chose this hotel because of the reviews and with its excellent location would highly recommend.

I was taken to Venice for my birthday and stayed at this lovely hotel. On arrival we were shown to our room and we had been upgraded to a beautiful room with doors out onto the canal. Decor was typical venetian. Breakfast was disappointing for us so we only had this once and ate out the rest of the time....

in a nice place, very close to San Marco. Very quiet during the night, big room and bathroom very clean. I booked this hotel with a very interesting offer ( € 116 a double room per night with breakfast ) . There is also a small terrace on the roof .

We stayed here for three days. Location wise it's perfect and watching the gondolas go by from the window was novel. I've called it an upmarket BnB because there is no lounge where you can interact with other guests and you only see other guests at breakfast time. The honesty bar allows about four people to sit and is on the...

Staying in San Marco

Neighbourhood Profile
San Marco
The most famous sestiere (district) in Venice has one of the world's most famous squares, St. Mark's (Piazza San Marco). Anchored on one end by the basilica, clustered around it are restaurants, museums, shops, orchestras playing in the square, pigeons, the grand pink Doge’s Palace (Palazzo Ducale), the soaring campanile bell tower, an astrological clock tower, plus gorgeous cafes and restaurants like Florian and Quadri. Piazza San Marco is beloved by Venetians themselves. They book a table anytime, which offers a buffer from the fray. This grand outdoor drawing room attracts Venetians for a stroll too, especially late in the afternoon when the hoards of daytrippers thin out. It's simply a grand place to meet.
