Got here yesterday we took water taxi which is quickest route from airport and €110. All bags taken care of on arrival and upgraded to luxury room which was very nicely presented. Both porter and concierge were very helpful for whole stay. Lovely bar and good breakfast I would definitely recommend this hotel as on top of all that it...

Stayed 3 nights in room no. 301, a Junior Suite. The room was palazzo-pretty (as pictured on the hotel's web page), impeccably clean, spacious and had a lovely view of Campo S. M. Formosa. The bathroom was modern, but just as spacious and clean. The lovely bath products -- everything from shower gel to bath slippers to disposable toothbrushes --...

We stayed here for 2 nights in July. What a great place. We arrived early and received complementary drinks while we waited for our room. The staff were very efficient and professional. The hotel is just of Santa Maria Formosa Square which is a pretty place, lots of cafes and stalls. It is slightly off the beaten track which gave...

We arrived from our cruise ship to spend 4 nights in Venice. The hotel met all of our expectations and then some. Room 402 was large, clean and spacious. The bathroom was modern and roomy. Staff were very friendly and very helpful. In short, we would definitely return. One word of caution, if you arrive with any significant amount of...

We returned from Venice yesterday. Our two night stay at the Ruzzini Palace Hotel was as fabulous as all the reviews state. Location, staff, breakfast, room were all 5 star. The Ruzzini must offer the cheapest coffee and cocktails in Venice. Beautifully served with nibbles and biscuits. We arrived from our cruise ship by water taxi ... better than a...

Great location, easy walking distance to all the sights (San Marco, Rialto) but has a local feel in the courtyard and not so touristy. A great breakfast with the staff being very friendly and gracious. Our room was superb, top floor, modern and very comfortable. We slept great every night and loved the over sized bathtub. It's on a canal...

Very enjoyable stay for the last 3 nights of our honeymoon. Well appointed hotel, great location, beautiful room (junior suite), concierge staff very helpful. Only minor point was that the hotel could do with more than two staff looking after tables in breakfast room at peak times as they were run off their feet. Overall great value for money!

This hotel, which was once a palace has recently been refurbished and transformed into a wonderful hotel. Much of the original art work is still on the walls and ceilings. It is in a fantastic location on one side of a suaqre, 5 minutes from the Rialto bridge and within easy walking distance of the waterfront. The hotel is very...

This is a good clean hotel with a comfortable bed, nice bathroom and helpful waitstaff. The hotel has both an entrance from the street and water (good if You have a lot of luggage from the airport or train) The best part, however, is the location. The hotel is a five minute walk to saint marks square and the Rialto...

Staying in Castello

Neighbourhood Profile
Castello
Castello is the largest of the six sestieri (districts), and the only one not facing onto the Grand Canal. More than half of Castello is situated within Arsenale, the naval base, which occupies over one-fifth the area of Venice. This gentrified maritime neighbourhood feels busy but casual. Castello’s side streets are laid back, with small boats lining canals criss-crossed by laundry. Semiannual exhibitions add a strong artsy current to the Arsenale area. Via Garibaldi in Castello, with its shops and bars, has one of Venice's rare straight and wide boulevards. When a large ship turns around the Lido to enter the Giudecca Canal, the startling sight creates an illusion that it will run aground right on Via Garibaldi! Families treasure Giardini near the island's tip, green with rare trees and grass, and Riva degli Schiavoni is a popular spot for Venetians to take a stroll to watch the sunset.
