I came away from my stay at the Aquila d'Oro feeling slightly cheated. The welcome was less than warm - I'd arrived at 12.30 to be told, abruptly, that the room wasn't ready and to come back at 3 pm. No offer of an alternative room (the hotel wasn't busy) or apology. I came back later to find a different receptionist who asked me to finalise payment for the stay as they "wanted to avoid too many people congregating at the entrance in the morning". Yeah right. There is some attempt at wit in the room decoration, which doesn't go amiss, but basically this is a small pensione done up to resemble a boutique hotel. I had a room on the 2nd floor and could clearly hear voices in reception on the ground floor. Don't expect a good night's sleep. I was kept awake until late by what seemed to be the very loud soundtrack of an open-air cinema. The entrance is not easy to find, behind a rather tawdry café. Also, having paid 98 euro for said room, I would have expected, at the very least, toiletries. I really don't need an infrared sauna when I stay in a hotel. On the plus side, the breakfast had a good choice and the location is excellent. Just off the main square and walking distance from the train station. The cleaners were cheerful and friendly and did a very good job of cleaning rooms. I wouldn't go back, not least because I expected more for my money and a decent night's sleep.

Response from Hotel Aquila d'Oro, Proprietario at Hotel Aquila d'Oro

Dear we are an Ancient Medieval Tower in the heart of the fantastic city of Trento, so the city is alive and thinking of having a high mountain silence in the evening is a little unlikely. Check-in time is clear on our website and on all portals at 3pm. Check out is for all customers at 11 am. She arrived at 12.30 and our hotel was fully booked so it was not possible to offer her an alternative room. The new Covid-Sars 2 procedures are very strict and therefore cleaning, disinfecting and then sanitizing the whole room requires precise times, WE RESPECT THE SANITIZATION RULES TO KEEP ALL GUESTS AND OUR SERVICE STAFF SAFE. We wish you to find places to stay as you like and with the times required we greet you cordially The staff

We enjoyed a three night stay. The hotel fully met our expectations, based on customer reviews. The location was good for access to the station and for exploring the town. The room was clean, comfortable and warm. The breakfast choice was excellent. Less happy with the WiFi but not a major issue. Would be happy to return.

This is a small hotel (16 rooms) right in the center of Trento. We had a perfect room (Depere: no room numbers but names, he designed the Campari-Soda bottle) which was small but perfect: the bed, the air conditioning, the fabulous shower! Also the breakfast in the beautiful cellar was perfect. We will be back next year.

The hotel is just off the Pazza del Duomo. Great location for getting to restaurants, shops, and enjoying the center. We stayed here for two nights. The beds were comfortable, the hotel was clean and safe. The breakfast was okay, but not as good as some of the other hotels we stayed in. I would definitely return to this hotel on our next trip.

We revisited this hotel after not having stayed here for years. The location is perfect and therefore an obvious pick, however it's quite clear that the quality has gone down hill. The hotel is under staffed and therefore everyone seems 'on call' to attend to guests' needs. If the front desk person isn't there, the bar man tries to help you. Our check-in took forever as the attendant was busy doing a multitude of other duties. The room was dated. Bed coverings were old and cheap. No amenities are provided. Breakfast was good however it's in the basement of the hotel and has no ambience. The only parking close by is a communal parking lot and cost 18 euro per day. Internet was atrocious. Almost non-existent really. We were having to log-in at each use and finally were given the staff password to expedite the process. A bit sad as our first stay was really great.
