Stayed there in late August. Pros: Beautiful from the outside, great location (easy walk to the town center) and view of the lake was stunning. Not surprisingly, appears to be a popular wedding spot. Restaurant served excellent food at lunch and breakfast, Cons: Internet was terrible. As someone else mentioned, if you really needed it for business, you will be... More

We visited Lake Orta in October, the town was quiet and peaceful. The Hotel is located a short walk off the main square with views of the lake, and a floating dock for lunch or appertivo's. The rooms are small~but uncluttered, and plenty of space for luggage. We mentioned that we were celebrating a delayed anniversary and were surprised with... More

Our room was small but perfectly appointed and laid out so that size wasn't a problem. The hotel is beautiful, modern and elegant. The town is picturesque and quiet. The hotel has a wonderful view of Isola San Giulio and the monastery. A beautiful spot for a long weekend in the Italian lake region.

Orta San Giulio is on the smallest of the lakes and probably hellishly crowded in summer. Our trip was in September though and the whole experience was wonderful; tranquil and peaceful. The Hotel San Rocco I ought to keep a secret. Not expensive but service to match most hotels; good old fashioned courtesy, delightful experienced staff. Nothing was too much... More

Another hotel forming part of our northern Italy tour in June 2016. We love Orta and surroundings as it is the smallest, least known and most romantic of all the lakes, it has a real presence to it. San Rocco sits in a great place on the lake and is a short walk down the walled corridor into the atmospheric... More

We booked this property based upon a recommendation from our local Travel Agent. The hotel is scenically located and we had a spacious room with full views of Lake Orta and the swimming pool in the courtyard below. The breakfast buffet was welled stocked. The free WiFi worked. The location in the village of Orta San Giulio was great for... More

This is a beautiful hotel, mainly because of it's unique situation on the very edge of Lake Orta. It is rated 4 stars and the prices, amenities and accommodation reflect this. We booked a 5 day stay to relax and enjoy the break. However, there were 3 weddings during this period on 3 consecutive days. This resulted in excessive noise... More

Opinions seem very divided on this hotel so I'll try to be as objective as I can. While I recognise the frustrations expressed here about the aircon controls and especially the truly terrible WiFi ( notices now up all over the hotel saying they're working to improve it, not before time!) I can only say in mitigation that we found... More

This hotel is beautiful, but I do have to admit I was disappointed by the view from my room and by the breakfast. It seems many (if not the majority) of the rooms face away from the water, which was definitely disappointing, but the view from the restaurant in the back of the hotel definitely makes up for it. I... More

Could not get in our usual hotel so chose San Rocco and immediately loved the hotel, fantastic location, parking within this town is really handy, room very modern and clean with amazing island view. Staff superb and breakfast very good, did not eat there other than breakfast so can't comment on restaurant. But.. If you need wifi like I did,... More
