I travelled to Milan on business and the Gran Duca di York was exactly what I was after, a great location, nice tidy hotel and rooms with a decent breakfast! Perfect. The team there were exceptional, I'll definitely be staying here again.

We stayed for 3 nights, key points: Breakfast - decent range of self serve food and coffee brought to you. Not busy with guests. Friendly staff. Sausages/bacon looked minging though Room (309) - Clean, quiet, comfy bed but poor shower pressure and no English TV channels. Good wifi though so not a problem. No charge for wifi or soft drinks...

Stayed over night moved on to my next destination. But while I was there it was perfect. The location was spot on. Just a few blocks from the mall and the Duomo perfect walking distance from everything anyone would want to do. Walked to view the last supper fresco. My stay although short but perfect.

I know the hotel for a long period of time. Staff is warm and attantive, atmosphere is warm, helpfull and personal. No more taxi's needed If you stay in the city center! Nice drinks and snacks at the end of the day and for me this hotel is the perfect example of a good ratio of price and quality.

Although the official rating on this hotel is 3 stars, we would rate it higher. The staff was friendly and helpful, our room was lovely, quiet, comfortable, and the location was great. They provided bathrobes and slippers. Breakfast was also varied and had everything you could want. This hotel is located close to the Duomo and shopping area, and it...

A really great location, just a few minutes from the Duomo but in a very quiet area away from the noise and crowds. Very clean and well maintained, free cold drinks in fridge plus tea & coffee making facilities. Staff are lovely and can't do enough for you, really helpful and polite. Great choice of breakfast. Would definitely stay here...

This was our first visit to Milan and we chose this hotel because of Trip Advisor recommenations and its location. It is a Great Hotel. Best location in Milan for the Art, Architecture and Opera. Friendly staff. Unpretentious. We would definitely stay here again on another visit, and warmly recommend it to others.

If you are looking for a hotel right next to the Duomo , this is a great place for you. Breakfast was very good lots of options but the only default was that the room was stuffy and outdated. But it's only looks.

Staying in Centro Storico

Neighbourhood Profile
Centro Storico
The pulsating core of Milan is in Centro. Duomo Square is enclosed by the gothic cathedral, the historic icon of Milan. However, shopping is what draws most crowds to this area. The classy and versatile Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II with luxury boutiques and high quality restaurants will turn any shopping or lunch expedition into a royal experience. Head to the rooftop of the flagship La Rinascente to enjoy the view of the animated square with a panorama of the Duomo. The Corso Vittorio Emanuele II is the street for high-end shopping. Brands of all kinds and street artists attract the attention of all visitors; while at Via Santa Radegonda 16, Luini Panzerotti is a much appreciated street food shop providing unimaginable culinary experiences. If shopping takes its toll on you, consider visiting Castello Sforzesco, a 15th century castle housing several museums. Those looking to relax can go to Parco Sempione, where nature provides respite from the energy of this dynamic and international city.
