The pulsating core of Milan is in Centro. Duomo Square is enclosed by the gothic cathedral, the historic icon of Milan. However, shopping is what draws most crowds to this area. The classy and versatile Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II with luxury boutiques and high quality restaurants will turn any shopping or lunch expedition into a royal experience. Head to the rooftop of the flagship La Rinascente to enjoy the view of the animated square with a panorama of the Duomo. The Corso Vittorio Emanuele II is the street for high-end shopping. Brands of all kinds and street artists attract the attention of all visitors; while at Via Santa Radegonda 16, Luini Panzerotti is a much appreciated street food shop providing unimaginable culinary experiences. If shopping takes its toll on you, consider visiting Castello Sforzesco, a 15th century castle housing several museums. Those looking to relax can go to Parco Sempione, where nature provides respite from the energy of this dynamic and international city.

Have stayed in Hotel Star more than five times on business trips to Milan. Excellent central location but in a quiet side street with little city noise. Super helpful and friendly staff who upgraded one of our rooms on our last visit. They also made dinner reservations for us.

The hotel is very well situated, close to the Scala, Duomo and many other activities. You can do all your excursions walking from there and go further with the public transportation tram or metro. As it is a little bit withdrawn from the main road, the location is bit quiter.

Hotel Star is not a fancy hotel, but is clean and adequate. It’s located on a side street without any elegant entrance. Rooms are sparse, and the fancy animal pictures on the wall work well on the internet but that’s about it. The plastic cage shower built above the bathtub

We stayed here for 3 nights, part business part leisure. The hotel is ideally located within a few minutes walk to the main tourist attractions and close to the Metro. I enjoyed the unusual/quirky artwork around the hotel. Room and hotel was spotlessly clean throughout. The

I don't understand why this hotel has such good reviews on this site. Be forewarned that this hotel does not live up to them. And while the photos here are of the actual hotel, they don't capture the skeevy feeling of the rooms. The initial impression in the lobby was okay and

Response from DAVIDE C, Direttore at Hotel Star
Responded 4 days ago
Dear Christina, First of all, we would like to thank you for the time that you spent in sharing with us your review. We have seen you’ve made many reviews about the places you stopped by in Milan, and in more than one occasion you weren’t satisfied with the services, even at the Duomo. This was also the case of our hotel, that left us surprised, because, beside the bathroom problem, that we thought to have solved since, after our intervention, you didn’t mention about it again, no other complaint were reported by the front desk staff. We will try to answer to all the other perplexities you wrote, just to give a better explanation and understanding. Our corridors have been realized with moquette (unlike the rooms where the floors are in parquette) simply because moquette is also an excellent soundproofing and the trampling in corridors, if realized with different materials, would have caused disturbance to our guests. Since for us cleanliness is fundamental, the carpets are cleaned and sanitized everyday, and twice a year they are subjected to a deep cleaning procedure that takes 2/3 days of work. The rooms aspect is “different” by choice. We prefer to distinguish from all others in details care, having selected prime materials and brands for decorations and services of our rooms. Most of our guests liked and like them, only a few didn’t, but we understand that taste is personnel, and will never complain about it. About the price, Milan is among the most expensive cities in Italy, and prices are higher than in most of the rest of our country. The cost of life in Milan is very high, and so is to run an activity, especially in the central area, where our hotel is located. Our down are goose down, and our towels are made of cotton and linen, that, at least here in Italy, are not considered cheap fabrics. In case of need, the reception is always at disposal for extra towels, pillows or blankets, even for allergic people. In order to offer our guests the best quality, all our breakfast products follow the HACCP certification standards, and, in addiction to some necessarily packed products, the rest are freshly made every morning. In any case, we consider every review an opportunity and will make use of your words to improve the services and experience we offer to all our guests. Kind Regards

I hope this is helpfu In my opinion the best way to save money and time is not to rent a car at all. At MPX airport you could take a train called the Malpensa express for €12 to Milano Cadorna metro stop then for €4 take the Tran Nord to Como lago. 20 minutes for the first ride and 50 mi utes for the second. It is much prettier to see Como lago by boat than by car. The ticket office for the boat ride is literally across the street from the train stop. The local train to Como has no transfers and the lake is the last stop. If you arrive at MPX terminal 1 follow the signs to” i treni”. The ticket office is a large glass enclosed space directly above the departure and arrival platforms. Buy round trip tickets for both parts of your journey and get metro tickets to ride the subway at the same time. Then as wchih platfrom will take you to “stazione Cadorna “. These ticket agents all speak perfect English and are very kind. This method works best if you are traveling with minimal luggage I.e. one large suit case that is not over packed and a small very light over the shoulder bag.
