Wonderful 4-star hotel that's very convenient to the train & metro stations and easy access everywhere in Milan. Amazing assortment & great service for breakfast. Perfect spot for our first few recovery days after arriving in Italy for a three week vacation.

We stayed in three locations this trip and Hotel Berna's breakfasts were by far the best! The selection was extensive and the staff was attentive.

A quaint hotel within walking distance of the train station makes it the perfect choice for travelers. The staff couldn't have been more friendly, especially Max, the bartender. The breakfasts are incomparable. We look forward to returning.

This was a very comfortable hotel ideally located close to the central station and a metro station. It is also quite possible to stroll from here to the duomo and Galleria Vittorio Emanuele. The hotel is located in two buildings on opposite sides of the road. Our room was big with a good bathroom. The breakfast, included, was sumptuous.

We only had one night in Milan as a stop over to France and where better to spend it than Hotel Berna. It was pouring with rain and the Hotel provided a real Haven. The service, the welcome and the complimentary free drink and free soft drinks in our fridge were very generous. The breakfast was amazing and they catered for people on special diets. Our room was very comfortable although not over large. We loved the special touch of the free yellow duck in our bathroom. There was free tea and coffee and cake available anytime and we could also make a hot drink in our room. A very generous place with excellent value for money.. It was only a two minute walk to the train station.

We booked this hotel because it had the best tripadvisor ratings for hotels near the central station in Milan. We had a 1-day stopover here. Knowing that there would be 3 of us (we travelled with a 10-year old), we booked the highest category of room available, the superior room. The website said that would be very comfortable for 3 adults. First impression was disappointing, the lobby brings you back to the 80's, old sofas, lots of burgundy and dark colours, dark wood with gold tone accessories (-ve). Clean but very old. The check-in was smooth and the room was ready at 2pm, which was a nice surprise (+ve). We were told to leave the key in the reception each time we leave the room. There was a table set up in the lobby with teas, coffee, water and cookies or pastries (+ve).

Response from Customerrelationship, General Manager at Hotel Berna
Responded 12 Jul 2014
Dear Canadiana2008, we are grateful for your detailed feedback. We understand that your experience has been partially affect by your „first impression“ whern entering the lobby. For all our readers it is useful to say that our interior design and decor, including most of the rooms, have a classic „old“ style though undergo continuous renovation work every year. We understand that our „look and feel“ may not meet every guest taste and for this reason we invite all our guests to have a look at the pictures on our website. With regard to the size of the room, our main goal is to offer our guest a very honest and transparent information on the services provided. In effect our rooms for three adults are considered (and advertised) to be a double room with an “additional rollaway bed” and this is why we don’t name them triple room. Due to this reason, it’s fair to say that the third person is staying free of charge in those room typologies, whereas a small supplement is charged only for covering the additional expenses for our buffet breakfast and the bed linens. We are so happy to read that you have appreciated the quality of our buffet breakfast and, above all, the general friendly and polite attitude of our Staff. You satisfaction means really a lot to us. Please come back and stay with us again. Carlo Fontana, GM & Staff

Because of construction, the walk from Milan Central Station to Hotel Berna was confusing. I wish the hotel would have posted their map from Central Station to the hotel on-line. After getting to the hotel, I was very pleased with our Superior Room. Although small, the bathroom was great. The bed was comfortable, although the down pillow I has requested was not there. I subsequently went to the front desk to retrieve one. My grand daughter stayed in a standard room which was more than adequate for her. The reception staff were professional and efficient. The buffet breakfast was very good and the staff at the buffet were excellent. I wish to offer a suggestion about Milan Centra Station--beware of pick pockets! One tried to steal from me at the exit stall but was

The Hotel was very comfy and cozy, the staff very accommodating. Our room was very nice and clean. The bathroom was a bit tight but functioned well. It had just a shower, but that was ok with us. The location was good as it was not far from central station. It was also a short walk to many restaurants and great shopping! It was also in a residential area that was very beautiful. We had a late flight out of Italy the day we checked out and the staff held our luggage as we did some more sightseeing before we had to leave. We appreciated that very much. Breakfast was amazing and plentiful! I would definitely stay here again.

Really enjoyed staying here, my room was a little small but I didn't mind as I was travelling alone. Very Quiet. Lovely sweet touches including a nice surprise gift in the bathroom. Messages left asking if everything was ok. Free soft drinks from minii bar. Delicious breakfast. Very close to train station. A little far from the touristy area, but street cars and subways are easy to use and reception sell tickets so it makes it easier to travel. Staff very friendly and helpful. All in all I loved this hotel.
