We arrived jet-lagged after a transatlantic flight. Easy walk from the train station, and smooth check in. Lovely suite in the Villa Torretta-clean, quiet, comfortable, and great view of the lake. Staff was very helpful and kind, and Laura was the perfect hostess. If we are ever back in this area, we will stay here again!

This is an annex to Hotel Olivedo. Room (with great view) is okay, the breakfast (continental) is adequate. The deal breaker was Laura, the proprietor. When we arrived, we wanted to see the room to check the stairs(we're both 78) and the view (which was fine). Coming back to the front desk, Laura wanted our passports (asking gruffly),. As I...

Great location in a quaint village on lake Como. We were made to feel at home and staff friendly and helpful. Breakfast is satisfying and evening meal in the hotel restaurant was a very good traditional home cooked meal. Overall, we enjoyed our stay and would most certainly stay again.

First and foremost the location is just about perfecto! This is a quaint hotel experience. We were in room 4. If you have big or many suitcases you should be wary. LOTS of stairs and no elevator. No wifi in that building either; for me that was highly inconvenient. The owner/operator Laura was helpful but she is gruff. Not unfriendly...

Having planned our first trip to Milan/Como with what I thought was great efficiency I messed up with other accommodation over dates. As a result I was embarrassed to ask Laura to rebook our stay not once but three times! She may not always get the best press but I would recommend you pick up the phone, she will appreciate...

If you're looking for a staid, characterless, soulless 4/5 star hotel this is not your place! This is an authentic, characterful little Italian hotel in a great location within a great village. The host and her staff are very welcoming and efficient. The rooms are relatively basic, but tastefully decorated, ours was air-conditioned, and the bathroom was large. This is...

We really enjoyed our stay at the Villa Torretta. We were in room #8 and it was lovely. I would have to say and this is not just for the Villa but air conditioning throughout Italy on our vacation is NOT what we are used to in the US. :-) The room was large with a large bathroom/shower area. We...

It is probably hard to wrong at any hotel in Varenna on Lake Como, which is stunningly beautiful. Villa Torretta, part of Hotel Olivedo, was amazing. We had a large room with a fireplace and an eating area, a large bathroom, and a balcony that overlooked the garden and the lake. I have read reviews complaining about noise so close...

Loved the location of this hotel, and we stayed in the separate small cottage with a lovely view. The breakfast was good, and the staff person, a man, was very helpful. However, the woman that checked us in was not into customer service; we were told at checkin that the wifi was broken, and would be fixed soon, then a...

We were looking for a place to stay in Varenna and chanced upon this Villa and its sister Hotel Olivedo. Charmed by its old world grandeur, we went ahead to book, but could only get the Hotel because the Villa was full. Correspondence with the owner Laura was pleasant and prompt. But as we would have preferred the Villa because...
