It was well priced and convenient to leave and arrive at the train station. It wasnā€™t far to walk into the town and the water was hot and the showers had great water pressure. They also had soy milk for breakfast and the coffee was nice. The staff were lovely.

The rooms are dated but that doesnā€™t bother me. Plenty of space to hang my dresses.

The downsides were, the room smelled of cigarette smoke and the pillows were heavy and hard as a rock. I couldnā€™t use them. Luckily there was a spare. I would probably stay elsewhere next time.

I visited Udine for three nights one weekend in January with my son. Why? at this time of year flights are very inexpensive, the three star Hotel Principe (near the station) offers a weekend deal, and on that particular weekend we were able to see the world's most expensive soccer team play (and get beaten by) the local heroes. Udine has the most wonderful Venizian square; a castle from which the snow capped alps can be seen all around; wonderful bars and resturants in the old pedestrianised quarter with plenty opf choice; ease of access to Cividale (historic centre) Tarvisio (SKi resort) and Trieste (multi-ethnic historic port). And thats just a three night visit. There are lots of other centres to be visiteed no more than an hour away. (And it is virtually unknown in the English speaking world- the Germans know it of course!) I would recommend the Principe - a family run hotel professionally run withe excellent rooms - near the bus and railway stations and ten minutes walk from the centre.

We visited Udine, Italy in early September, 2010, and found this hotel on Trip Advisor. It was even better than we had expected and my review title says it all. It was almost across the street from the rail and bus stations and since we were using the train and buses to travel, it was perfect for us. I'd say it was about a three-star hotel at two-star prices.

My husband and I visited Udine for one night while we were with family. We were on our way to Florence after. The hotel is in an excellent location and the service is exceptional.

The people in Udine are so very kind - it is nice to know that they form part of our roots!!!

The staff was more than helpful. We were out when our family arrived at the hotel and they greeted them and chatted with them until we arrived. They took great care of knowing what are plans were - they helpfed us with booking train tickets and even booked us a hotel in Florence. All hotels should be aiming for this level of service as his was great!!! They are the most friendliest people \i have ever met at a hotel.

Great place to stay!! Breakfast was good as well. Rooms extremely clean.

PROS:
- Near the train station of Padova
- Rooms are decent with old furniture style
- Bed & cushion was comfortable
- Cordial Receptionists
- Breakfast was just okay
CONS:
- Near by area is like not being in Italy, as full of immigrants
- Late night feeling is uncomfortable & unsafe
- Still use the old blankets (refer to the image) which are considered unhygienic
- Lighting is dull in the room
Definitely the space to improve with time is necessary.

Located just across the train station and a ten minute walk away from the city sights, which is perfect for a solo woman traveler. The rooms were clean, had all the basic necessities, and were quite comfortable. The wifi is free and fast. But the best thing about the hotel is the excellent service. The staff is friendly and incredibly helpful. Their warm smiles made me feel right at home :)

My wife and I stayed here as the base for our month-long tour of Italy. The hotel has a GREAT staff, clean rooms, good breakfast, a fantastically convenient location, and a good value. The staff here are all very friendly, and willing to help in any way they can; from recommending local restaurants and making reservations, to giving tips on places to see in Udine and around the region. Maria, in particular, is a very sweet young lady that speaks a plethora of languages, always greets you with a smile, and makes you feel at home the minute you walk in the door! During our stay, we ate breakfast almost every morning; they offer a great spread of pastries, cereal, juices, and FRESH coffee (not instant like at most other hotels)! The rooms are small, but adequate and quite average for Europe in general. The rooms were cleaned every day, with towels and sheets replaced every three days or so. The mattresses in our room were a bit worn, but nothing too bad. Included in our stay was air conditioning and high speed internet at no additional charge. The location of the hotel is ideal for travel, just 100 yards from the bus and railway station, as well as a 10 minute walk to the city center. The area right around the hotel is a little shady, but the hotel entrance is secluded off the street and offers a very nice, safe ambiance when you enter. The hotel has room for parking a dozen or so cars in its off-street courtyard, and parking was never an issue. The hotel also has a few bicycles that you can rent if you want to take them around the city. You wonā€™t regret a stay at this hotel until it comes time to leave, and you feel as though you are leaving a friendly relativeā€™s home.

All-in-all, by far the friendliest hotel in Italy!

Perfect location - a one-minute walk away from the train station when you arrive with your bags - a ten-minute stroll away when you return from a night out in the city centre. Relatively quiet from trafic and other noise. Nice - rather small - and very clean rooms. The staff is extremely riendly and helpful. They remember your name - and the second morning you come down for breakfast the just as if you "want the same type of coffee as yesterday". Stayed for a week and I hope that I can return to Udine some day - and will not even look for alterntive hotels (unless this is fully booked).

After travelling around and staying in many different places in Europe, the things I have come to appreciate and which this hotel satisfied were:

1) clean, quiet rooms, with lovely crisp clean bedlinen. The bed covers were clean!! The beds were comfy and DID NOT sqeak every time I rolled over.
2) very friendly staff. Infact probably the friendliest hotel staff I have come across.
3) Easy parking
4) close to train and an easy walk to the old city.
5) Breakfast was a good continental buffet with fresh breads.

I didnt have a problem with the area and felt quite safe. I am astonished that people care about what the decor is like in any hotel. As long as the place is quiet and comf and the place isnt falling apart - its fine with me. This hotel was very nice and I would happily stay here again.

I visited Udine just for the purposes of attending a concert at the Stadio Friuli. I arrived very early by train from Venice, and was apprehensive because I don't speak either German or Italian, and was traveling alone.

I could not have been any more pleased with this gem of a hotel. It was right across from the train station, and right on the bus route to the concert. The room was pristine (I mean PRISTINE), the bed ultra-comfortable, and the breakfast was very nice and very welcome. After arriving back from the concert hot, tired and feeling grubby, the shower, and the efficient room air conditioning felt like heaven!

But what really set this place apart was the wonderful woman who was running the hotel. She was very very kind, spoke excellent English (and German and Italian) and helped me with all the information I needed. The next morning she asked how the concert was, and helped me with 10 minutes of free internet, for which she refused payment. Receiving such friendly, personal service is very rare.

This was the best value of any hotel I have every stayed at in Italy, and from what I saw of the town of Udine, I would not hesitate to come back for a more extensive visit.
