I think the management deliberately choose 3 over 4 stars hotel. With small "improvements" it could easily be a 4 star. Hotel is located a couple of minute walking distance from center of the city and parking is free and vast. Nevertheless l would like to mention two things. First the check-in. The only info we got at the check-in was "the room in on third floor". And thats it. Never experienced something like this in all my life. Ever. The second is breakfast. The staff is quite friendly and options to choose from at the buffett table are ok. But.. The staff is making so much noise Inside the kitchen talking and joking that you have issues hearing your own thoughts. Quite unconfortable and something to address to.

It was my business visit, and the hotel served its purpose only to my surprise that it did not have tea or coffee service in the room. The room was fairly small and sufficient for a solo traveller. Receptionist were polite and helpful. Breakfast was good.

It is located in very convenient place to drive to other cities such as Venice, Grado, Trieste, Caole etc and 10 minutes walk to city centre. Especially hotel has its own parking space. Breakfast is quite good for Italian standard. Guests can request any kind of coffee they like from expresso, cappuccino to americano. Italian hams and bread together with variety of cheese, marmalade and butter. Also yogurt, cakes and croissant. Rooms look old from outside but nice, clean and comfortable inside. Shower was nice with all amenities provided including hair dryer, the cleaning lady forgot to fill up the shampoo on our last two days though.

The hotel is large and has had a fairly recent update and the room was very good, however their website says that there is a bar and restaurant. This is incorrect and not helpful after a longish journey it would have been good to use this facility. They do exist but closed, we asked why and was told that it was due to COVID-19 and that they may reopen at some time. Correct the website it means leaving the hotel and finding a restaurant not that easy on a Monday evening, the reception staff seemed nonplussed and just said that's the way it is and go find a restaurant. Disappointing considering that the hotel has potential, the breakfast was good.

My accomodation was booked by a company I've been doing work for. Needless to say I was not expecting much but was pleasantly surprised by the standard of the hotel and also the facilities. We arrived by train from Venice very late but they still kept the kitchen open to make dinner.

Breakfast was the usual continental fare which suits me, although there was no English, or cooked breakfast if that's your preference.

Cost per room was €60, which I'd expected to be much more. Hence the reason I've scored it higher than I perhaps would have done normally.

The hotel is relatively close to the center (10min walk), with fair rooms and helpfull staff.
As mentionned by others it is situated near a gas station, but this is no trouble at all, and rooms are very quiet.
Ask for a non-smoking room if you are a non-smoker, as the first room I was given had a strong smell, but I was offered to change without any problem.
Breakfast is a buffet of fair quality.

Hotel Friuli does a good job of cutting back on frivolous things to be affordable but comfortable. My only complaint was a lack of ironing facilities in my room (they offered to press my shirt in the morning, but I am accustomed to having an iron in suite). Breakfast was very nice, especially considering the reports I had from colleagues at other more expensive hotels in the vicinity. I had a room just above the front entrance overlooked the heavy traffic corridor, but the traffic is very light in the early morning and evening, so it wasn't a problem. It's approximately a 5 minutes walk to the edge of the old downtown core, then another 5-10 minutes to the castle.

In few minutes walkings you can reach the downtown of Udine, or you can take the bus to reach the railways staion in few minutes as well.
The hotel is just over a petrol station but no noise at all.
The rooms are very roomy and clean. Good breakfast buffet with a lot of sweet stuff for a tipical italian breakfast (brioches, handmade cakes, biscuits, cookies, bread, marmelade, juice, coffee, cappuccino and so on) and just bread and salami if you want continental kind of breakfast.
Free wifi in every room.

Stayed for one night ( thankfully no more). It was Sunday. Seems only 1 person works at the Hotel on Sundays. Seems the whole town is dead on a Sunday. It was deserted. Hotel Bar and restaurant closed all day and night. We’d travelled 8 hrs to get here. It’s 38c and we’re thirsty. Receptionist directs me to a Petrol ( Gas) station for a drink. Room was basic. Thin, bouncy mattress and no safe. Breakfast.......... well. No eggs, no fruit. Cheap, bland juices but the coffee was very nice.
Not for me!

Our stay at Hotel Friuli was fine. Reception staff were pleasant and we had a room facing the back on the 5th floor, which had a lovely view.

The hotel and rooms seem old and dated and there is a slightly stale smell (maybe because at some point in its history it was smoking was allowed in the rooms).

Breakfast was fine, good offerings by Italian standards. It seems the hotel is used by tour groups so the breakfast room was very busy when we went (8am).

Location wise it is technically close to the lovely old part of town, however there is a canal which means it is not as close to walk as it might seem on a map.
