We stayed here for 2 nights in order to experience Bologna. It is a small hotel with separate apartments. They put us in one of the apartments which was a huge by European standards. A room with loft bedroom. Because it was on the top floor in the back it was exceptionally quiet. The staff and owner were very nice...

From the moment we arrived in Bologna at San Mamolo we were made the feel welcome. The staff were really friendly and we were directed to our room which was beautifully decorated, large and comfortable bed and a small garden at the back. Breakfast was simple but delicious and taken in the picturesque garden at the back of the hotel....

My wife and I are travel guides and bring a small group to Italy each year. This year while we were in Bologna, we discovered this jewel of a boutique hotel. Bright and cheery with lovely yellow tones, flowers everywhere, great breakfasts and a staff that is friendly and informed. What else could you ask for. We highly recommend this...

I met up with friends in Bologna. We loved the nice bathrooms, comfy beds, and well appointed rooms. And when eating canteloupe in the lovely garden we asked for a spoon and voila - forks, spoons, plates, and napkins. How sweet.

We had a wonderful week at the Porta San Mamolo. The staff were all extremely pleasant, helpful and thoughtful - for example, we left a bottle of wine to chill in the fridge in our room and came back in the evening to find two wine glasses had been set out for us. We had a lovely large 2nd floor...

This was one of the nicest hotels we stayed in on our entire month-long trip. Bologna was a joy and has exquisite restaurants, which the hotel staff will recommend with enthusiasm and careful directions. Hotel service was superb and room was large for the price in Italy and nicely appointed. Very kind and professional staff. Lovely garden breakfast. Old hotel...

Loved staying here. Rooms are arranged around a terrace which is perfect for reading and relaxing. Rooms themselves are very well-equipped. Location is 15-20 minutes' walk from the station and only 5 minutes from the city centre. Best of all, you're only 5 minutes from La Sorbetteria Castiglione with the best gelatti on Earth.

We just loved our stay in Bologna and at Porta San Mamolo. The hotel is very conveniently located near the circular road that surrounds Bologna's historic centre, which makes it easier to park and is still a 10 minutes walk to Piazza Maggiore. The building and the furnishing is really charming and pretty, the staff helpful and professional (and they...

We had a very nice experience. From the time we arrived we were greeted by very friendly staff. They parked our car for us in their garage (20 Euro / night), they escorted us to our rooms and then brought us our luggage. Quite a few stairs throughout the hotel so this was nice. The room was very nice and...

Our contact with the hotel started pre-trip with helpful and prompt communication over leaving luggage early in the morning of our arrival. We were due to arrive in Bologna by train at 6a.m. In the event, the train was late so arrival was 8a.m. On arrival at the hotel, we were offered not just the opportunity to leave luggage but...
