I was really looking forward to staying in this place, but did not make it past the door! Recently went to Rome on a sporting trip. My teammates and I all booked separately and at different times, as some of us where traveling with family members to make a holiday out of it. I personally was travelling with my sister,...

I've spent a few days in Rome and Funny Palace Hostel was absolutely good choice. The room was clean, towels and liens were provided. Eric (the owner) is very helpful. What is also important hostel is located in walking distance from Termini Station and it's relatively cheap.

Clean, spacious room, very pleasantly surprised. Great price for the time of year too, very impressed. Staff were friendly and helpful. Near enough to the metro and train stations. Highly recommend Funny Palace, comfortable stay in a beautiful city.

We were a little surprised when we got there because we thought we had booked 4 nights in a hostels but it turns out Funny Place isn't one. The check-in was funny all right. The manager of the place also seems to be the manager of a laundromat, where you actually check in before he takes you to your room....

Location was great, right behind Termini station. Otherwise: - sanity and cleaness were questionable (judging also from the smelly room were we left our luggage) -breakfast was a coffee and a croissant (if you advertise offering breakfast and charge for it, then at least you should provide something decent) -No wifi in the rooms -Too much noise -Too expensive for...

The people in charge are very helpful, the rooms are very comfortable and updated, the free breakfast is a very nice way to start the day. It is very close to the metro, the busses, and the train station. Highly recommended!

I highly recommend staying at Funny Palace. Jonny was so helpful when we arrived and gave us a map on which he showed us how to make the most of our time in Rome as well as vital information about transport. The hostel is in a very convenient location near Termini and our room was very nice - clean, comfortable...

We got a five bed superior and were really impressed. The only bad thing is. There's one bathroom for everyone or at least five rooms. Its super clean they have good wifi. They give you free towels and the staff is very friendly and helpful. Breakfast is good nearby. City tax is added per night. Its 3.50

The rooms are more akin to a hotel than a hostel. The staff is absurdly helpful, more like one would encounter at a tourism bureau than a hostel. They provide a map and recommend a detailed itinerary in addition to the best ways to book them. My only word of warning is to avoid the recommended restaurant 'Andrés' as its...

Staying in Esquilino

Neighbourhood Profile
Esquilino
Old school vibe from the very beginning is the only way to describe the Esquilino neighbourhood. The Esquilino takes pride in being one of the oldest areas in Rome for its key location on one of the city’s famous seven hills. From an ancient neighbourhood to its modern incarnation as a multicultural hub, Esquilino always has something going on—polyglot vendors debate street artists while kids play pick-up basketball games. Look around you: this area isn’t like the historic centre. Liberty architecture, large piazzas, and long boulevards mix with archaic arches, secret side alleys, and beautiful churches like Santa Maria Maggiore.
