We booked because it was reasonably priced and conveniently located. The rooms were newly renovated, if a bit sparse. By far, the best part was the staff. I think it might have been the owner/operator, but he was awesome. He sat us down, told us about bus lines, free museum days, and a great gelato place nearby. You could see...

There are definitely different types of travellers and Rome being "touristy" it would be important to find an accomodation that fits you. This one is for those looking for a quiet and peaceful place to sleep next to the Termini which will connect you everywhere. This is not a place for the party-goer types or the getting-drunk types. Check Google...

You get a bed and a shower. The Hostel management is what really made our stay comfortable. Greeted with free towels and a bottle of wine we were very please with the service. Free pastry and a drink is included for breakfast, and you can tell the staff really goes the extra mile to make sure you get the most...

I have been in worst and I have been in much better. It is a bit of a strange place. There is no common room. You check in and check out at the laundry mat. You must pay in cash. (?) They give you a voucher for a coffee and pastry at a nearby bakery. Again, if you are just...

This place is not really what I would call a hostel, the atmosphere is non-existent. There is no social common area, and no breakfast room, meaning that meeting people is difficult. The organisation of this hostel is over complicated as you have to check in through a laundrette, here is where you are supposed to receive your breakfast vouchers. Unfortunately...

I stayed at Funny Palace for three nights and it truly was a very nice place. First off, I must admit I am a hotel snob. When traveling with my family, I have stayed at some of the best hotels in the world. Thus, I was a bit unnerved about staying in a hostel for the first time with a...

Let me say that I am writing this on my own accord and no one has asked me to. I just say this because of other reviews on the site. The hostel is conveniently located not far from Rome Termini and upon booking it I was given clear instructions on how to find it. It is a bit funny sitting...

My 2 friends and I booked for 3 nights. We ended up staying only one. One of the workers, very rudely, at about midnight banged on the door and demanded that it could not be locked. At no time did they inform us that it could not. He was in an incoherent fury and stayed in the living room area...

I had a nice stay here. The best part was the location. It was right by Termini, making it easy to get around the city. The staff was very helpful with public transportation and attraction recommendations. The room was nice, although the beds felt a bit close. Security consisted of an automatically locking door to the flats themselves, and then...

Staying in Esquilino

Neighbourhood Profile
Esquilino
Old school vibe from the very beginning is the only way to describe the Esquilino neighbourhood. The Esquilino takes pride in being one of the oldest areas in Rome for its key location on one of the city’s famous seven hills. From an ancient neighbourhood to its modern incarnation as a multicultural hub, Esquilino always has something going on—polyglot vendors debate street artists while kids play pick-up basketball games. Look around you: this area isn’t like the historic centre. Liberty architecture, large piazzas, and long boulevards mix with archaic arches, secret side alleys, and beautiful churches like Santa Maria Maggiore.
