This particular hotel is on the 4th floor, but you need to check-in at the reception on the second floor. They also request you drop your keys off when leaving the hotel, which means you see a lot of the 2nd floor. The main entry is through a locked gate. This can be a little intimidating when you first arrive,...

We selected this hotel after having read good reviews. However it certainly did not live up to expectations. Firstly it was difficult to find, as it is just on one floor of a building and other 'hotels' occupy other floors. On arrival we had to drag our luggage up stairs to reach the old lift. Having arrived at the correct...

In Dec. 2015 we booked 5 nights at this hotel for oct. Nov. 2016. through Expedia. When we tried to confirm the reservation there was no responce. In desperation I contacted the Rome tourist bureau who contacted the property and they told us they had no record.of us. We are now trying to find a room with one week to...

When people told me 4 star hotels are not like what we know here in the US I didnt think it was this bad. Actually I think this hotel was a 3 star, but the rooms were sad. My friend and I had separate rooms. Her air conditioning didnt work, my shower head was hanging off the wall along with...

I originally had a bit of trouble finding the hotel, as it is not a stand alone place; the one building has five different hotels, however it was its own floor. The check in staff, as well as floor staff were all lovely, and the room was decent. It was clean, as was the bathroom, with a comfortable bed. The...

I was underwhelmed by this hotel. It was rated 2-star, but to my mind it's an old and basic property that has"ticked the boxes" to upgrade its rating. It was being run on a shoe string, with a shared reception for a number of "hotels" in the same building (the others being of lesser ratings), and a need to press...

On the positive side, the rooms were clean, there was plenty of hot water and the breakfast provided was good for the price paid. Internet access was excellent. However, the traveller should be aware that since 1st March the hotel is under new ownership and no longer has the personal welcome or 'family feel'. The hotel is administered from the...

Finally, a nice hotel near Termini Station, reasonably spacious and affordable (at least in the off season). This quiet and clean hotel has just 7 rooms and is located on the 4th floor which isn't a problem as there is an elevator. These simple but stylish rooms are perfect for the budget traveler. The staff are friendly and helpful and...

Staying in Esquilino

Neighbourhood Profile
Old school vibe from the very beginning is the only way to describe the Esquilino neighbourhood. The Esquilino takes pride in being one of the oldest areas in Rome for its key location on one of the city’s famous seven hills. From an ancient neighbourhood to its modern incarnation as a multicultural hub, Esquilino always has something going on—polyglot vendors debate street artists while kids play pick-up basketball games. Look around you: this area isn’t like the historic centre. Liberty architecture, large piazzas, and long boulevards mix with archaic arches, secret side alleys, and beautiful churches like Santa Maria Maggiore.
