Perfect location, friendly staff. Furnishing is quite outdated and the walls could use new painting. Breakfast is basic but fine: croissants, pudding rolls, toast and nice coffee. You can't expect anything more for this price.

Great location for visiting everything, on 3rd floor with a dodgy lift, but ok. At first very helpful staff, very polite. Room fine for price we paid, breakfast very poor, but lovely coffee. On the last day, check out said 11.00, so we went for a walk and returned at 09.40 to find our bag packed in the reception. Some-one... More

Very good value and excellent location. Good security, air conditioning, television, WiFi, and continental breakfast. Elevator took some figuring out but otherwise no problem and beat hauling luggage to the 4th floor. Not a luxury hotel by any sense but a great deal for a place to sleep that is close to all the tourist attractions.

The 1st problem was that it was hard to spot the hotel since it was in a building with other 'hotels' or should I say accommodations. We walked from Roma Termini, with luggage in tow. We expected to get on the elevator/lift; but only 2 people per trip. There were 4 in our group. WE sent up our parents with... More

We stated there 3 nights and it was horrible. The rooms were ok but the service and staff were not good. Even the breakfast was just basic. They tried to convince me that they only change the towels in the rooms once every 3 days. Had to argue to get new towels the next day. Also, we arrived a little... More

My husband and I, together with our two teenage daughters stayed in the Quad room for one night at the end of a two week trip to Italy. We really just needed a place to sleep before our flight home the next morning, and the Hotel Alius provided that. The room was basic, but quite clean. The walls were a... More

I stayed there one night, in double room/twin type. We got double bed contained of two single beds, very comfortable. Wi-Fi didn't work all the time, every 20-30 mins we had to go and restart router at the corridor. It was really quiet, although once in the middle of the night we were woke up by somebody flushing the water... More

We stayed here for 5 nights on May 2014. Excellent location, walking distance from many sightseeing. Helpful staff. Very basic breakfast. WiFi was good only near to reception. We were in room 10. The room wasn't cleaned every day, towels weren't changed during our stay ( 5 days), the walls was very dirty. Other rooms (number 6 and 8 )... More

We spent 4 nights at the Hotel Alius in April 2014. It is walking distance with wheelie cases from the Termini Bus Station. Once on Via Nazionale we managed to walk past the hotel - but this may have been me not doing my research! The hotel is on the 3rd floor of a building block through very big arched... More

Staying in Esquilino

Neighbourhood Profile
Esquilino
Old school vibe from the very beginning is the only way to describe the Esquilino neighbourhood. The Esquilino takes pride in being one of the oldest areas in Rome for its key location on one of the city’s famous seven hills. From an ancient neighbourhood to its modern incarnation as a multicultural hub, Esquilino always has something going on—polyglot vendors debate street artists while kids play pick-up basketball games. Look around you: this area isn’t like the historic centre. Liberty architecture, large piazzas, and long boulevards mix with archaic arches, secret side alleys, and beautiful churches like Santa Maria Maggiore.
