We (two adults, two kids ages 8 and 9) stayed one night at the Grand Hotel del Gianicolo during our last night in Italy prior to flying back to the US. We booked a triple room for 200 Euros and while the room and hotel were acceptable, we could have definitely done better. Specifically: - The hotel has a nice...

We booked 7 nights at the hotel on a b.& b. basis with a view to see Rome at a more relaxed pace. There are numerous routes to access central Rome by bus or tram, the restaurants of Trastevere within walking distance. We found the hotel perfect in viewing Rome in the morning and evening, whilst relaxing by the pool...

We spent 4 nights at the hotel for my partners 40th birthday. We found the room lovely and clean, bright & airy, it was cleaned daily with fresh towels and any shower gel/shampoo's replenished. The breakfast was great with a wide range foods in continental style and if anything ran out the waiters were quick to get some more. The...

Staying in Monteverde

Neighbourhood Profile
Monteverde
Above the city on the Janiculum hill, Monteverde is Rome’s popular "getaway" neighbourhood, coveted for its greenery. Rome's largest urban park, Villa Pamphili, is the area's centrepiece with affordable prices and peace and quiet. Monteverde is just far enough away from the centre to feel like you’re on a Roman holiday and close enough to feel the lure of Rome's chaos. Though its downside is the lack of scheduled public transport, this family-oriented area is literally a well-deserved walk in the park.
