For the price - this hotel was very dated. There was a distinct smell of 'dead rat' both outside and inside our room. The young men on reception were particulary helpful but some staff members seemed disorganised and flustered. The lift was archaic and slow and the breakfast room was very inadequate. Although they advertised that there was wifi access...

We arrived in Rome from Venice without a Hotel reservation. A walk away from the train station in search of a hotel, we came upon several streets with hotels. We stopped at Hotel Cecil, sure that it would be way too expensive, talked to Lidia Romanelli (a young Sofia Loren look alike). She gave us a rate for our four...

The Hotel was fine, especially the staff was very friendly and help full. The rooms are somewhat out of date but this is no problem if you shop the whole day in Rome. Breakfast is sober, but they serve a great cappuccino! Anyway the location of the hotel is in the middle of the center of Rome. The receptionist Giuseppe...

When I read the other reviews of the Hotel Cecil on this site, I wonder whether the people who wrote them went to the same hotel. I found the place to be really pretty repulsive. In fact, about the only good things I could say about it are that the location is fantastic (just a couple of minutes by foot...

This hotel is in a great location being half way between the Spanish Steps and the famous fountain. Apart from that it was a major letdown. It was the most expensive hotel we stayed in on our Europe trip. The rooms looked like that had last been refurbed in the 70's. They would only turn the air conditioning on in...

We stayed four nights, and really enjoyed feeling 'part of Rome'. The chance to live like local was great fun. Only complaint is that there should be more than one towel each offerred for four nights, and the quality of kitchen utensils was rubbish(the forks bent when trying to eat with them). Simple is OK, but the quality was junk....

Great location only a couple minutes walk from the Spanish Steps and a couple minutes from the Trevi Fountain as well. The Pantheon is also just a few minutes walk past the fountain. All have great eating areas. If you are looking for value - then the Daisy Apartment might be a good bet. You check in through the Hotel...

We stayed for a family holiday at the Hotel Cecil for the week of 13th.-20th. August, 2009. The hotel was centrally located, literally only a few minutes walk from the Spanish Steps. The location of the hotel meant we could reach all key sights by foot. Great views from the rooftop garden. On arrival at the hotel we were warmly...
