Traveled to Rome with another couple & stayed 3 nights at the Demetra Hotel. No complaints with the staff at the front desk, breakfast room or sleeping quarters. Everyone was pleasant & quite helpful. The hotel is shared with 2 other hotels...a mystery to me how that worked. The hotel is close to the metro station over cobblestoned streets but...

Chose this hotel because of its closeness to Termini Station as we were on way from airport to Cruise terminal at Civitavecchia. It is only about 400m and a 5 minute walk from the station. Oddly, there are three hotels in the same building. Reception for the Demetra is on the first floor and to access the lift you have...

Firstly the location of this hotel is excellent, closely situated to a metro/train station, within walking distance of many tourist attractions and a good choice of eateries close by. The hotel itself is clean and tidy with all staff friendly and helpful. Breakfast was your standard Contential breakfast and we had no complaints. Overall the hotel is your average city...

Good service especially from Sad. Unfortunately the food was not so great. Total carb hell no wonder so many Europeans are fat and borderline diabetic. The bacon was 90% fat. The scrambled eggs were sickly and when asked to fry a couple of eggs all I can say is my 11 year old could have done a better job. They...

Staff were lovely and helpful, after the issue with hosteling.com, they were kind enough to offer us the same price for the room. The room was lovely and spacious, great facilities, and a really really fab location to see the city, better than it looks on the map! Free bottle of fizzy wine, as we celebrated a special occasion. Would...

Staying in Esquilino

Neighbourhood Profile
Esquilino
Old school vibe from the very beginning is the only way to describe the Esquilino neighbourhood. The Esquilino takes pride in being one of the oldest areas in Rome for its key location on one of the city’s famous seven hills. From an ancient neighbourhood to its modern incarnation as a multicultural hub, Esquilino always has something going on—polyglot vendors debate street artists while kids play pick-up basketball games. Look around you: this area isn’t like the historic centre. Liberty architecture, large piazzas, and long boulevards mix with archaic arches, secret side alleys, and beautiful churches like Santa Maria Maggiore.
