My friend booked this hostel for our trip and reading the previous reviews I was a bit apprehensive, however I had no reason to be. We stayed on the top floor and it felt like we had our own apartment. Having stayed at the fiesta terrace I find it difficult understanding how critical some of the reviews were. The rooftop...

We'd read the bad reviews, but as we're travelling around on a budget and are merely looking for places to sleep at night in a good location, we thought this would suffice, but unfortunately it didn't. The owners were nice enough, and they upgraded our room from a shared bathroom to private with no extra charge. They put us on...

This is perhaps the worst hostel I've ever stayed in there are no amenities, the staff is nonexistent but feels okay about moving all your stuff around when you're out of the room, and the shower is so ungodly hot I actually have burn marks. Had to get out without actually showering. Rooms are way too small for the number...

The staff was very friendly and helpful. They clean our room everyday. However, our room smelled like sewer/farm. It was also very hot but we did not want to open the windows due to the smell and also mosquitoes. The toilet in our room had hot water but the toilet bowl was once blocked. The staff was helpful though. The...

The prices and location of this hostel is what attracted me and I'm pleased to say that we are quite satisfied with our stay at this place. I was a little worried after reading a couple of reviews about this place but I wanted to give it a try myself, and I'm quite pleased to say that I was quite...

Our room wasnt ready (though it was 1am and I booked weeks in advanced), they tried to overcharge us and told me my reciept online was wrong. They barely spoke english (not italian either) it was frustrating and eventually put us in a random room. The room was alright, but then they changed our room without telling us and moved...

I cant even give the rooms a rating because I didn't see one. After the receptionist saw us, he called someone on the phone. Then told us our room had been taken. So he walked us to the front gate where another guy was waiting. They said they'd take us somewhere else. They walked us down the street to a...

I can recommend this hostel to young travellers, for 3-4 nights. It is very close to the Colosseum, and not far from the other attractions. It is not a high quality, but enough if you need only a room. I read the reviews before my tripp, and I afraid from the location, but it was OK. We made long trips...

Staying in Esquilino

Neighbourhood Profile
Old school vibe from the very beginning is the only way to describe the Esquilino neighbourhood. The Esquilino takes pride in being one of the oldest areas in Rome for its key location on one of the city’s famous seven hills. From an ancient neighbourhood to its modern incarnation as a multicultural hub, Esquilino always has something going on—polyglot vendors debate street artists while kids play pick-up basketball games. Look around you: this area isn’t like the historic centre. Liberty architecture, large piazzas, and long boulevards mix with archaic arches, secret side alleys, and beautiful churches like Santa Maria Maggiore.
