We made this booking purely on price and the fact that they offered parking. The parking facility is very tiny and ridiculously crowded, so we ended up parking in the street, which was quite safe. The room was very small for three people, but we didn't plan to spend much time there so it did not really matter. The hotel is...

My wife and I stayed here for 3 nights recently and couldn't fault the hotel for the price. The main positive are the very friendly staff who are really helpful. We arrive a few hours before our check in time to see if we could drop our bags off, and instead we ended up checked in early and given some...

Me and my friend we're not even staying at the hotel but they gave us the perfect custumer service. We ask if it was possible to take our breakfast there (it was sunday and it's not easy to find breakfast there on that day). They treat us like queen and serve us the best breakfast with coffee and more. They...

My husband and I recently spent 4 nights at the Villa San Lorenzo Maria hotel in Rome. Overall, we had a good experience. The staff were friendly, knowledgeable and helpful. We actually got to experience 2 separate rooms because the A/C in our 1st room did not work. The first room had a cute little terrace, which was nice. However,...

A good base for exploring Rome! Tram stop was only down the street and across the road - tram number 3 takes you straight to Colosseum and it's only 1.50 euro each way. There's a newsagents right beside the stop and you can buy the tickets there. Hotel was very clean. Room was a little small and bathroom was cramped...

The Villa San Lorenzo Maria Hotel in Rome was by far my best hotel experience I've ever had. Upon arrival, we were greeted with cappuccinos and fresh pastries. They took our bags and brought them to our room for us. As if that wasn't enough, the hotel concierge, Antonio, sat down with my friend and I, and he pulled out...

Negative points: - Agree with the other reviews that the hotel is in a less than desirable neighbourhood (open bins right outside, lots of graffiti, feels a little dodgy walking around at night) but we were expecting this and knew what we'd booked. - We did notice we were waking up to slightly blocked noses every morning, and there was...

A very nice place to stay the staff is very helpful and friendly! They help for everything you need. They speak French and English fluently. The room is a little small but clean and nice. You really have to enjoy the happy hour at the bar and get a cocktail or two. The location is very handy there's a tramway...

Good location if you are not wanting to be right in the centre of Rome. Extremely handy for trams to Colleseum in 1 direction and to The Vatican in the other. Beware tho' that the older trams do NOT have air conditioning and can be uncomfortable in the peak hours.Hotel itself is clean and well run with attention to detail....

Staying in San Lorenzo

Neighbourhood Profile
San Lorenzo
San Lorenzo may look all street with its pulse in urban art and street food, but don’t be fooled. This gritty student neighbourhood immediately east of Termini train station is on the avant-garde rise. Art galleries, curated mural projects by artists like Rome’s favorite Alice, charming cafes, and boutique restaurants are slowly infiltrating the streets of San Lorenzo with counter-culture chic. Don’t worry, San Lorenzo still retains its local vibe with weekend festivals and demonstrations, and is always a hub for Rome’s university student scene.
