In short this place is total rubbish, never staying there again! Everything everyone else states on trip advisor is true, we got moved from a supposed decent hostel that we chose through tripadvisor (being the chianti hostel) to Freestyle. The place is ridiculous, only 2 bathrooms with showers in them (so not a separate toilet even) for more than 30...

We had booked Chianti Hostel in Rome for Easter weekend. 2 days before travel we were told the hostel was closed due to "hydraulic problems" and would be shifted to Freestyle at the same rate. Due to the short notice and it being Easter weekend we didn't have time to check out Freestyle or to look for new accommodation. The...

Originally we booked Happy Days Hostel, but theysent us to this hostel as there was overbooking, or so they said. The place turned out to be a disaster. It has three 9 bedded rooms, and only two tiny bathrooms. The window in our room couldn't be closed. There is no reception, they use one of the dorms as their office....

Freestyle" was close to the termini station so the location is quite good, but the room we got there was really bad. The window was broken, it was cold outside and very cold in the room. There were no electricity sockets inside the room and no heating equipment. Our group of 10 people were split among the rooms. The rooms...

If i had to sum this experience up in one word it would be NASTY! This place was gross, i have to admit i am picky with cleanliness, but this place was bad. The room was packed full with 12 beds that were falling apart. The mattresses were old and smelt so bad I could barely manage to sleep on...

I recently visited Rome and had the unfortunate experience of staying at the Freestyle Hostel. Unless you are EXTREMELY strapped for cash, do not stay at this dump! The only reason we managed to stick it out was because we had already paid, and had met a nice Australian couple who was staying there. The place is falling apart (paint...

Let me give you some background about myself. I have worked as a paramedic for over three years, and I have seen some pretty horrendous places. This hostel ranks among one of the worst. Calling this place a hellhole would be a compliment. For the first two days, there was no running water in the only bathroom. The electricity would...

I stayed at this hostel with a friend, first of all we were met by a rude man who didn't care about us. The next is that there are not enough lockers per person. The beds all sqeak really badly and the matress could only be slept on one side as it had a indent which made it only able...

Staying in Esquilino

Neighbourhood Profile
Esquilino
Old school vibe from the very beginning is the only way to describe the Esquilino neighbourhood. The Esquilino takes pride in being one of the oldest areas in Rome for its key location on one of the city’s famous seven hills. From an ancient neighbourhood to its modern incarnation as a multicultural hub, Esquilino always has something going on—polyglot vendors debate street artists while kids play pick-up basketball games. Look around you: this area isn’t like the historic centre. Liberty architecture, large piazzas, and long boulevards mix with archaic arches, secret side alleys, and beautiful churches like Santa Maria Maggiore.
