This little hotel was perfect for our 5 day trip in Rome. It was in walking distance from the eurorail and in the middle of the city. We walked to all our historical sites except to vatican city (where we took a taxi). Two doors down from this hotel is yummy gelato and a grocery store with very reasonable prices.

Friendly staff, reasonable location in Rome, clean rooms, fridge for your own groceries, DVD player, DVD movies can be used by every guest. The best offer we could find was directly at the hotelsite: [--]. The creditcardmachine was broken so they offered us a more than reasoable discount for paying in cash (if we insisted we could also pay the...

We stayed for 3 nights at end of April, booked through romeby.com - lots of pictures on that site. This hotel was really great, room was very large, clean and modern. There was a very nice and large en suite bathroom. Room had a DVD player, TV, A/C, safe. You can tell that money was always being reinvested into the...

We stayed in Nazional Rooms for 4 nights in February 2007. It was really nice. The rooms were clean, bathroom was clean, we had a small breakfast in caffeteria next to the BB (coffee + orange juice + croissant) There is no elevator in the building, but that didn't bother us. You have 3 keys, to the building, BB door...

In comparison with the price status of Rome hotels National Rooms can be the solution for them who can't afford the big prices. Room and bathroom were clean and the staff friendly. The location is ideal for anyone who want to go at any place in historical center on foot. Via Nazionale is a secure street 24hours. The entrance is...

The entrance to the hotel is shared with a wig shop which is rather amusing! Although the hotel is on the 4th floor and on your first ascent you are pretty knackered, it does get easier! We stayed in room 106, it pretty big and very clean and had both an air-conditioning unit and a fan which came in very...

When in Rome, look for Roman warmth, friendliness and molto gentile treatment. We had the best time at the National Rooms where we were treated like family. Every concern and every question were answered with personal attention. The one concern we had was the phonecard bought at the airport for 12 euro (15 dollars at the time) didn't work in...

The rooms at Nazional are comfortable and seem newly renovated but it is a long climb to get to them. Lots of steps! My biggest dislike was the fact that there was not a "front desk". The owner has a closet in the hall where he keeps his computer and paperwork and he is not there in the evenings when...

Clean, rather small but comfortable rooms. Good price/value aspect. Friendly service. A bit difficult to find on the 4th floor (no elevator) of a town house with a hair studio on the ground floor. Only 8 rooms. Tastefully decorated. New furnishings. The hostel is just a 10 minute walk from Termini train station. The immediate neighborhood of the hostel however...

My husband and I were in Rome for our honeymoon in September of 2004. We found the location of Nazional Rooms to be great. It was very close to a subway station, and the first night we were there we walked to the Coloseum (it was a long walk). The hotel is in a business district, but the sidestreets are...

Staying in Esquilino

Neighbourhood Profile
Old school vibe from the very beginning is the only way to describe the Esquilino neighbourhood. The Esquilino takes pride in being one of the oldest areas in Rome for its key location on one of the city’s famous seven hills. From an ancient neighbourhood to its modern incarnation as a multicultural hub, Esquilino always has something going on—polyglot vendors debate street artists while kids play pick-up basketball games. Look around you: this area isn’t like the historic centre. Liberty architecture, large piazzas, and long boulevards mix with archaic arches, secret side alleys, and beautiful churches like Santa Maria Maggiore.

“We prepaid on the internet and asked for quiet rooms with views. All of us had a view of St. Peter's from the window. Loretta handled most of the coordination and we were happy with the care taken in the room selection. We were all on the same floor but my son's family has a baby and they had a perfect room for their situation; a kind of sitting room that allowed some separation from the crib provided by the hotel and their sleeping area.”
