Fantastic place for meeting new people and going on their bar crawls, also a great bar. However, there was a a very unpleasant and rude receptionist which did tarnish my opinion of the place. He started shouting at a group of us because some people weren't staying there but were drinking at the bar. We tried to apologise and ask...

I stayed at Alessandro Palace for 4 nights at the end of January, travelling by myself Pros: inexpensive, close to Termini and walking distance to Trevi Fountain and Colosseum, friendly reception, happy hour every night and pub crawls to make friends (although Yellow Hostel down the street has better nightlife) Cons; BED BUGS!! I stayed in room 14 on a...

The room we were in was a little loud but the place seemed friendly and relaxed. It was a little too hotel like for me with everyone running around doing their own things but the reception staff were polite and helpful. I'm not a fan of chain hostels and the place just seemed a little too "processed" for me. The...

Good location and easy going reception. In the middle of what seems to be the acomadation area of rome there are lots of restaurants and other hotels around. They have teed up a deal with the resultant next door for a really cheap 4 Euro breakfast, probably the best value for money breakfast I've had!

My experience at this hostel went from good to pathetic in a matter of hours. When I checked in, the entire process was extremely smooth. They have a room to deposit your bags in, and a locker where they store your valuables if you'd like that. After I'd done both, I went out to tour Rome. The problems began when...

Hostels Alessandro was pretty basic as hostels go. Nothing fancy, and the atmosphere left a little to be desired. However, when I forgot my jacket there, the owner Niccolo was INCREDIBLY helpful - he found it, held it for me, and ultimately mailed it to the states for me! 5/5 for the customer service

We stayed here for a week. The staff were helpful in organising day trips, maps, important sites etc. We booked a private room and bathroom. It was sufficient for us but a bit small. We also had issues with the hot water. The location to Roma Termini was pretty good, although quite a walk to anywhere else.

New year party organized by this place was the worst time spent in my life. A total disaster. First of all expensive, disorganized and on top of that rudeness shown by the organizers. If someone in future plans to spend their new year in Rome don't go with Alessandro Palace. Better find some other disco or pub to spend your...

Do they mean "palace" ironically? Had to stay here because my hostel I was staying at during the week around the corner (the Yellow) was booked up on the weekend. Everything about this place was deplorable: the place smells, the beds are uncomfortable, the front-desk staff are sketchy, the business practices are shady, the social vibe is nonexistent, the lights...

Staying in Esquilino

Neighbourhood Profile
Esquilino
Old school vibe from the very beginning is the only way to describe the Esquilino neighbourhood. The Esquilino takes pride in being one of the oldest areas in Rome for its key location on one of the city’s famous seven hills. From an ancient neighbourhood to its modern incarnation as a multicultural hub, Esquilino always has something going on—polyglot vendors debate street artists while kids play pick-up basketball games. Look around you: this area isn’t like the historic centre. Liberty architecture, large piazzas, and long boulevards mix with archaic arches, secret side alleys, and beautiful churches like Santa Maria Maggiore.
