Just stayed here for a few nights and was a great choice. Small, charming, clean hotel literally steps from the Vatican and close to other desirable parts of town. Helpful staff and nice breakfast included. Lots of good restaurants right around the hotel as well. The beds were a little hard, but besides that it was an excellent choice.

We visited Rome after a walking holiday that Took us to Rome. This hotel was found for us by the company that arranged our walking holiday . We could not have asked for better . We could not believe how close we were to the Vatican City , it was only a couple of minutes walk. Our room was very... More

Hotel Bramante is a fantastic little hotel within a 3 minute walk to the Vatican. Nice open beam ceiling rooms in the main hotel and a very traditional apartment across the way. The staff are very helpful with all questions regarding places to go and eat. The apartment feels like a home where you can really feel to be a... More

Rated 3 stars I think, but far exceeded my expectations. Our room was very nice indeed, the hotel staff were friendly and attentive to all our needs. I tried to speak Italian, tried, not overly well, however the lady serving us really accommodated my effort, tried to understand me, and made every effort to encourage me. Her English was also... The hotel is small and family-run, very nice family, friendly and helpful. The rooms are charming, the bathroom somewhat dated, but lots of warm water after a while. The narrow street just by "the secret escape route" for the Pope, leading from the Vatican to San'Angelo is next to the hotel. The cobbled street is narrow, but with quite a... More

Bramante is probably the most famous hotel in Rome for out of town clergy on business at Vatican! It is very well located for access to buses and METRO, and surrounded by good restaurants and the entire of Vatican City. The hotel itself is charming and the rooms are a little bigger than usual for Rome--and well appointed. There is... More

I've stayed here on and off over the years and it is in a great location for the Vatican and the Prati area for shops and restaurants. However our room was small and dark, with noisy neighbours. A mosquito repeller would be useful too.Our air conditioner didnt work nor did the fan in the bathroom. The bfast is generous and... More

I've stayed at the Bramante on occasion. I must say that this hotel has gotten very dated. Not a very good value for the price. I checked in late and found a woman at the desk that could have cared less. She was very busy watching something on TV. It was sweltering and she gave us the absolute worse room... More

Lovely family owned hotel since 1873 but the building goes back to the 14th century. Just 200m from St Peter's, so full of character and charm, but still contemporary and clean. My friend and I had a twin room up one flight of stairs (European 2nd floor). Our window opened to a courtyard just outside our door. Room was everything... More

Will definitely be staying here again. I spent about 3 weeks there in spring 2014. Great base for exploring Rome. 2 blocks from the Vatican. Super nice staff, and the owners were friendly as well. Breakfast was so good! I love the room that I stayed in- at the top and had a lovely view of the courtyard. I had... More

Staying in Vatican / Borgo

Neighbourhood Profile
Vatican / Borgo
Frocked priests, colorful Swiss Guards, insistent souvenir shop owners, flag-waving tour guides, and pilgrims from around the world. This is the Vatican and Borgo, Rome's most recognized neighbourhood which acts as Vatican City's front yard. Aside from the souvenir boutiques and a few food spots, the only business conducted here is papal. In the daytime, the tiny medieval sector bustles with holy activity, as visitors vie for elbow room, or stand in line for a visit. Once the sun sets, the neighbourhood is transformed into a quiet and picturesque hamlet.
