Despite the fact that it rained most of the time during my stay, it was still a lovely hotel to stay in. The location is just great, its quiet and the staff are happy to help with anything. I liked the bar, my room was very good. I just wish it hadnt rained so much and I could have sat...

This was our second stay at this hotel and it was just as good second time round. Very comfortable although quite noisy at times as other residents and cleaning staff don't seem to be aware that people might be trying to sleep at 8am! However, the staff are friendly and efficient. The location is fabulous - this is a wonderful...

This was the best possible place to spend our time in Rome. It was in the perfect location, an easy distance to walk to all main attractions e.g Coliseum, Vatican, Pantheon. There was also many lovely restaurants around the hotel which were very easy to find, we found the first ourselves and then reception recommended the second to us most...

I stayed here just for one night before staying with a friend for the rest of my trip to Rome. The location was great, and the whole place was beautiful. The staff was very helpful, and the rooms were clean and comfortable, even though a little small. As some other travelers commented, the walls were pretty thin. Not realizing this...

Lovely hotel, cant fault it, was recommended by a friend and it was perfect for us. The only minor complaint was lack of fruit salad for breakfast! Although the breakfast was delicious! Staff so friendly and helpful, didnt mind us asking loads of questions on how to get places etc.

We stayed here for three nights over Valentines. The hotel is in a lovely setting; beautiful courtyard, the room was immaculately clean, good breakfast and the breakfast staff could not do enough to help, however, it was noisy most of the time, and especially so in the evenings. Whenever anybody walked past our door, it sounded like they were actually...

I enjoyed my stay because the hotel is close to everything and the personal kept my room serviced well. My only problem was the church bell that seems to sound many times a day but other than that, it is perfect.

this hotel is charming and the neighborhood is amazing. not touristy at all, just very chill, casual, laid back and younger. cute little cobblestone streets, great little gelato places nearby. the breakfast was tasty. and the staff was very friendly. the room we stayed in was a little on the smaller side, but then again, im probably just used to...

The room we stayed in was clean and spacious, the hotel staff gerenally helpful and jolly. Breakfast was served in the Bar aera and the hotel did cater for our coeliac relative. The bar was not open every day which was disapointing but overall we can recommend the Hotel Santa Maria. Trastevere is a great aera, away from the noisy...

Staying in Trastevere

Neighbourhood Profile
Trastevere ("beyond the Tiber") is like a faded postcard, a little worn around the edges but still charming. With its wide-open piazzas, meandering streets, weathered Renaissance buildings, and overgrown personality, it's become an irresistible mecca for visitors. Trastevere is an enclave of entertainment - a rotating set of street performers entertains almost every night, and unforgettable eateries and bars pepper its piazzas and side streets. For a trip to the past, visit the southern and western flanks of Trastevere for pockets of yesteryear, less traversed areas with a residual 1960s and 70s Roman vibe.
