Having lived in Trastevere over a long period as well as having taken small groups of Latin students to Rome for 15 years, I am aware of the possibilities one can find in central Rome. The Hotel Trastevere where I have stayed numerous times has a range of rooms--from the very small in the main building to large suites in...

The minute we walked in we were welcomed with info! The hotel was clean and our room was nice nicely spaced, lots of light and recently refurbushed meaning everything worked; hot water, lights etc. The hotels location is excellent in Trastevere. Furthermore local transport to different areas in Rome are pratically all around the corner. Michelangelo (one of the receptionist)...

Three family members traveling together stayed here. We arrived on foot at 10am, which we knew was too early to check in. They let us eat breakfast and agreed to store our bags. When we returned late in the afternoon to check in, our bags had already been taken to our room. The room was quite small and the bathroom...

As identified by others this is a basic hotel, but it's small and clean with very helpful staff and for the centre surprisingly very quite at night. The bed was confortable and although simple the breakfast was good with plenty of fresh coffee on request. I have already recommended the hotel to friends and family who are looking for a...

Rooms are a bit dated. Some are bigger than others. All have en suites. As a single I stayed in two rooms, one double in the main building (no 12) which was small and had no outside window and the other (C2) a double in the Annex which was much larger and overlooked a small courtyard. Both had air conditioning....

This hotel is basic but absolutely fine. The location is great. Right in the heart of Trastevere. Great area for eating. Spoilt for choice and all on the doorstep. Rooms are basic and a bit dated but very clean and comfortable. Daily servicing excellent. Provided are soaps, shampoos etc but no tea / coffee making facilities. (Pity) Air conditioning in...

We had a very happy stay here. The staff were very friendly, very efficient. Excellent location. As a lot of people have said - great coffee at breakfast. Rooms basic but adequate. With the window open the room was a little noisy as we were over the square but the double glazing was excellent and did the trick. If you...

Best location in the heart of Maria Trastavere which is a delightful neighborhood with great shopping an great restaurants that are very affordable. The staff made cappuccino's for everyone when they came down to the restaurant for breakfast with cats and dogs drawn in the foam. Everyone was super nice!

Let's start with the fact that the owner was yelling at us, cursing, and threatened to call the police on us when checking out. It was our honeymoon... last spot before heading home after a two week vacation all over Italy. So it started with check-in. After we got the key, he walked us outside of the entrance into an...

A group of friends recently stayed here at the end of a cruise. The location is great. You can either walk to sites or there is a bus/tram at the end of the street. The rooms are basic and come in multiple sizes. Some of us had larger bathrooms than others. All were very clean!!! It was very hot in...

Staying in Trastevere

Neighbourhood Profile
Trastevere
Trastevere ("beyond the Tiber") is like a faded postcard, a little worn around the edges but still charming. With its wide-open piazzas, meandering streets, weathered Renaissance buildings, and overgrown personality, it's become an irresistible mecca for visitors. Trastevere is an enclave of entertainment - a rotating set of street performers entertains almost every night, and unforgettable eateries and bars pepper its piazzas and side streets. For a trip to the past, visit the southern and western flanks of Trastevere for pockets of yesteryear, less traversed areas with a residual 1960s and 70s Roman vibe.
