I would recommend Hotel des Artistes. If flying into Rome Companio Airport, the drop off point for Terravision Coaches is about a 5 minutes walk away from the Hotel, very convenient. The Hotel is very comfortable and clean. Breakfast is sufficient with a selection of food and it has a lovely roof garden where you can relax and even eat...

We really enjoyed our stay at Hotel des Artistes! It was very clean and comfortable. The breakfast was good and the roof top terrace was great in the morning and at night! Our only complaints were that we did not get a wake up call on the last day (we were late getting to the airport) and the night reception...

Some of the other reviewers are so fussy! A beautiful hotel not far from Rome train station. Although it wasn't near any sights, it is minutes away from the Metro and the train station so no probs getting around. The staff were friendly and helpful; breakfast very nice. It has a lovely roof garden which affords no great views but...

We showed up in Rome at about noon and walked the five blocks to the hotel. We got up the five floors in the elevator and were told by the desk person that they didn't have our room for the first of three nights because they couldn't verify our credit card. This is one of their written policies (that they...

My husband and I spent our 10-day honeymoon at the Hotel des Artistes. Initially, we were very excited because the hotel was very clean, was just a few blocks form the train station, and was stone's throw from Internet cafes, restaurants, a grocery store, and shops. The room itself was like a closet, but that was to be expected because...

My mom and I had the hotel booked for the first night of our trip and the last (since we flew in and out of Rome). First off, they screwed up our reservation and didn't have a room for us. However, they did find us a room literally RIGHT around the corner at (I think) a Best Western for the...

I've recently returned from a long weekend at Hotel des Artistes. Overall I found the hotel very good value and close to Termini station, which proved extremely handy as this is where our coach pulled in from Ciampino airport. I have read some reviews that Termini can be an insalubrious area, however, I didn't have any problems and was quite...

This was our 2nd visit to Rome, but our first to this hotel. We were a little worried but it was pretty good. The reception scenerio was a bit strange with the lifts but you get used to it. Our room was not in the main buildind but next door. The room was small but clean and comfy. The breakfast is quite poor...

My husband, 5-year old daughter and I stayed at the Hotel Des Artistes for 2 nights in May 2006. We were a little concerned when we initially arrived, as there's no reception when you walk in; it's like entering an apartment building. You have to take the funky elevator to the 5th floor to check in. However, we were nicely...

This is a lovely hotel in a safe neighborhood within walking distance (15-20 mins) to the tourist sites. The complimentary breakfast and rooftop garden were wonderful. We would certainly stay here again. - P.O, USA

Staying in Esquilino

Neighbourhood Profile
Esquilino
Old school vibe from the very beginning is the only way to describe the Esquilino neighbourhood. The Esquilino takes pride in being one of the oldest areas in Rome for its key location on one of the city’s famous seven hills. From an ancient neighbourhood to its modern incarnation as a multicultural hub, Esquilino always has something going on—polyglot vendors debate street artists while kids play pick-up basketball games. Look around you: this area isn’t like the historic centre. Liberty architecture, large piazzas, and long boulevards mix with archaic arches, secret side alleys, and beautiful churches like Santa Maria Maggiore.
