From the moment you walk into the Residenza you feel at home. The polite friendliness of the Philippino staff is an instant charmer. Located on a tiny street by the Piazza Repubblica the rooms manage to stay quiet all day and night even though you're in the heart of one of the world's biggest cities. Rooms were clean and spacious...

This hotel was one of the highlights of our trip. After a day of sightseeing you want a clean, comfortable room to come back to. The bed and pillows amazing with high quality linens. The staff was incredibly helpful and location great for us! On our next trip to Rome I will be booking here in advance. The best accommodation...

Spent several nights here in late March. Staff all friendly and helpful. Although it's only just tucked away from several busy roads, noise wasn't a problem. Breakfasts are fairly simple, but perfectly adequate. Not especially cheap, but sadly that's probably the effect of Brexit on the pound/euro exchange rate. All in all, would happily stay here again.

This lovely hotel is in a perfect location: An easy walk from the train station, and then to everywhere else we wanted to go - Colosseum, Forum, Pantheon, Spanish Steps, Trevi Fountain, Villa Borghese. The staff are gracious and helpful with restaurant, sightseeing tips, and the quiet room was elegantly appointed with comfortable beds, a minibar and teakettle, and classy...

We had to switch hotels because our first hotel was right next to the pantheon, and a lot louder than we thought it would be! This hotel was very quiet, and very nice. The front desk was staffed 24 hours, and they held on to our keys when we left the hotel each day, which meant we didn't have to...

We just left Rome after being there for two and a half days. We read about this place on Rick Steve's. It is an old building near the Piazza Republica which is near the train terminal, metro and number 64,40 and 70 buses which work well with the Roma pass. The young man at the desk was more than helpful...

Wonderfully quiet and large comfortable room with king sized bed very near the train station. Great stay. We enjoyed the near by restaurants and the museums. The staff was also wonderful. The breakfast was good but you may do better at a resturant.

The quality of the rooms is first class & very well located for visiting Rome. The staff are extremely helpful & will recomend & book restaurants for you. The breakfast is adequate with good tea & coffee. On our departure day the card machine would not process either of my cards & they had problems with the machine over the...

Stayed here with my parents for 3 nights in May 2016. The room was very spacious and clean. Very charming decoration. Staff was very friendly. There are many restaurants around the block. We walked to the Trevi Fountain, to the coliseum and to the Vittoriano (not on the same day). It was an enjoyable walk that took us about 15-20minutes....

Stayed here for just over a week with my wife and daughter. It's a great location with comfortable beds, great bathroom, very friendly staff and really good value. Free wifi is available too which is always a bonus. Reception is open 24 hours and the main door to the building is locked after hours but you just press a buzzer...

Staying in Esquilino

Neighbourhood Profile
Old school vibe from the very beginning is the only way to describe the Esquilino neighbourhood. The Esquilino takes pride in being one of the oldest areas in Rome for its key location on one of the city’s famous seven hills. From an ancient neighbourhood to its modern incarnation as a multicultural hub, Esquilino always has something going on—polyglot vendors debate street artists while kids play pick-up basketball games. Look around you: this area isn’t like the historic centre. Liberty architecture, large piazzas, and long boulevards mix with archaic arches, secret side alleys, and beautiful churches like Santa Maria Maggiore.
