I was overwhelmed by hotel choices in Rome and this place ended up being perfect! We could walk everywhere. It was safe and clean. Staff knows English and it is a great value. Walk to dinner at La Matriciana, across from the Opera House. You will feel like you are in a movie. Grab an aperol spritz on the rooftop...

The hotel was absolutely great for seeing all you wanted in Rome. The rooms were clean and services were fantastic. I cant fault any of the staff as all were very friendly and helpful. We had our honeymoon here and really enjoyed everything about the hotel and the locataion was bang where we hoped it would be. 10/10

Not quite sure why this hotel is like "marmite" for reviewers. It's slap bang in the city centre, near all public transport, clean and staff efficient and do their individual roles well. We stayed for 5 days and had a great time seeing Rome and using Diana as an ideal base. Massimo is a font of knowledge and all bar...

After reading the reviews after we had booked, we thought we may have made a boo boo, Went for my birthday weekend and had a lovely time, ok the rooms arent huge but the location, breakfast, friendly staff especially franco (he runs the bar) all make up for that. Its just round the corner from the Termini, which is where...

I went there without knowing much, except that it is near the Termini station. I was not wrong in choice. All the anxieties we had were for unfounded, the hotel is well known, even, the cab at the airport knew about the location. We had read a few things in the reviews, like the noisy street, thin walls, dysfunctional elevator,...

I stayed in March and the roof top garden wasn't open yet, which was disappointing. The front desk was not friendly, but I thought the breakfast staff was very friendly. Everyone smiled with our group and said good morning, answered questions as best they could, etc. The food was fantastic I thought. The bartender in the evening was also nice....

I got married 3 months ago and my husband and I chose Rome for our honeymoon. When we arrived to the hotel, 1 person out of 3 at the front desk spoke English and the bellboys didn't understand at all. So it was really hard to communicate! Upon our arrival to our room I was shocked by how much the...

The hotel is impossible to find, front desk is stuffy, unfriendly and unamused by first time visitors to Rome. By the way, I found so many helpful, friendly, courteous Romans, it was a sharp contrast to the atmosphere at Hotel Diana Roof Garden. The Roof Garden was inconsistently open, lobby bar/restaurant had short hours for food - I believe the...

I had read some negative reviews on here so was a bit sceptical about how this hotel would actually be. I have to say that the negative reviews are unfounded in my eyes! The hotel was very near to the Termini which takes you straight from/to the airport, staff were friendly, helpful & very smiley. Room was big, clean and...

My wife and I had visited Rome only once before many years ago. Back then we picked a more central location for the main attractions but this had the disadvantage of being further from the station than we'd have liked (because it's so easy to get from the airport by train). I selected the Diana Roof Garden hotel on the...

Staying in Esquilino

Neighbourhood Profile
Esquilino
Old school vibe from the very beginning is the only way to describe the Esquilino neighbourhood. The Esquilino takes pride in being one of the oldest areas in Rome for its key location on one of the city’s famous seven hills. From an ancient neighbourhood to its modern incarnation as a multicultural hub, Esquilino always has something going on—polyglot vendors debate street artists while kids play pick-up basketball games. Look around you: this area isn’t like the historic centre. Liberty architecture, large piazzas, and long boulevards mix with archaic arches, secret side alleys, and beautiful churches like Santa Maria Maggiore.
