Hotel Daniela was horrible! We got a good package deal with Expedia for hotel and airfare, so we went with it without knowing. It's in a not-so-nice area of town... bums sleeping on the street... a little isolated and out of the way, very dirty. We had a terrifying walk home at night -- something I wouldn't recommend -- with...

Hotel Daniela is on a quiet, tree-lined, residential street and we felt very safe. The room was small and neat. If you can get passed the mildew smell coming from the bathroom, stay here.

I usually do not write these types of reviews, but I felt the need to warn people about this hotel. We picked it because it was part of a package & the package was reasonably priced. However, you get what you pay for. The walls are EXTREMELY thin so you can hear people walking about, talking in other rooms and...

Staying in Esquilino

Neighbourhood Profile
Esquilino
Old school vibe from the very beginning is the only way to describe the Esquilino neighbourhood. The Esquilino takes pride in being one of the oldest areas in Rome for its key location on one of the city’s famous seven hills. From an ancient neighbourhood to its modern incarnation as a multicultural hub, Esquilino always has something going on—polyglot vendors debate street artists while kids play pick-up basketball games. Look around you: this area isn’t like the historic centre. Liberty architecture, large piazzas, and long boulevards mix with archaic arches, secret side alleys, and beautiful churches like Santa Maria Maggiore.
