Hotel Colosseum, a magnificent terrace overlooking Rome... Welcome to Hotel Colosseum. You are in the characteristic Rione Monti, one of the oldest and most picturesque neighbourhoods of the "Eternal City", in the peaceful and quiet Via Sforza, at n°10. Thanks to our exclusive location, in the centre of Monumental Rome, you will have the opportunity to visit the main tourist attractions on foot. In the immediate vicinity of the hotel, you will find the Basilica of S. Maria Maggiore, the Colosseum and the Domus Aurea. Crossing Via Cavour will take you to Via Urbana. Called "Vicus Patricius" in antiquity, it is remembered above all for the visits, which tradition claims were made by St. Peter to the house of a Christian senator here. A short, scenic walk along the streets of Rome will also take you to the Imperial Fora and the Church of S. Pietro in Vincoli, which houses Michelangelo's famous statue of Moses. Hotel Colosseum is located at one of the highest points of Esquiline Hill and provides a 360° panoramic view of Rome and its surroundings from a splendid, furnished terrace on the eighth floor of the building, where the guests can enjoy the view while savouring a drink from our bar. All the rooms and common areas of the hotel have Wi-Fi coverage. An internet point is also available for use. At the reception, you can get information about all means of travelling through the city (taxi and bus services, car, scooter and bicycle rentals) and about guided tours. The stops of numerous city buses are a few meters from Hotel Colosseum and the "Cavour" (Line B) metro stop is about 3 minutes away on foot. The Termini railway station is 700 meters away. The hotel is situated in the historical centre of Rome, outside the limited traffic zone (ZTL); therefore, it is possible to get to us by car and park in the nearby partner garage. Otherwise, it is possible to book our fixed-price transfer and airport pick-up/drop-off service.

Hotel Colosseum is often celebrated for its prime location, close to attractions and transit, and its exceptional staff who go above and beyond in service. Many guests appreciate the clean, comfortable rooms and the warm, intimate atmosphere of the hotel, although the rooms are sometimes considered basic and compact. While the rooftop views and substantial breakfast are popular, opinions on value vary, with some travelers feeling the room size and amenities do not fully justify the price. Quiet stays are typical, but occasional noise is noted.

Hotel Colosseum is a lovely hotel on the top of Esquilino in Rome's Via Sforza district, known for its proximity to iconic sights like the Colosseum. This hotel attracts visitors because it''s within walking distance to tourist attractions and offers an intimate and relaxed atmosphere. The central location allows for easy access to Rome’s most popular sites, with proximity to the Colosseum, Roman Forum, and Termini train station.

The rooms come with simple decoration and are considered clean and comfortable. Some rooms offer rooftop views of Rome, while the top-floor terrace provides guests with a stunning view of the city, ensuring enjoyable moments especially at sunset. Breakfast or drinks can be served on the terrace, making the stay extra special, enjoying the historic atmosphere of Rome.

The staff is described as warm and helpful, and the overall cleanliness of the hotel is considered quite well. Breakfast is varied and fresh, but there are also guests looking for a bit more options.

Overall, Hotel Colosseum is an ideal choice for those seeking a great value and cozy stay in Rome''s historic center. The central location, cleanliness, and lovely terrace are among the main features that make guests happy.

We have spent almost three weeks traveling Italy; and this is our favorite hotel of the entire trip! We are traveling on a budget; and after two weeks of lugging our suitcases up flights of stairs and fighting for parking spaces in the bigger cities-- it was SUCH a pleasure to arrive at Hotel Colosseum where the staff immediately helped with our bags and even helped me find a (free!) parking space for the rental car!

The rooftop bar is just the place for a moment of quiet after a busy day of sightseeing in the summer heat; and the breakfast was substantial enough to fortify us again the next day. Beds were comfortable, and the blackout shades were perfect for a good night's sleep.

Truly, though, it was the friendly and helpful staff that made this place truly stand out. We would happily (and hope to!) return in the future!

I did my homework on this hotel prior to booking, and all the reviews are excellent. I'm sorry to say my experience was totally different. Upon arrival, our luggage was put in the luggage hold until our room was ready. No tagging and the room wasn't secure to my liking. A room that didn't appear to locked. Our room was ridiculously small. The walls were dirty with marks and quite gross. The bathroom was so small also. The power points beside the bed didn't work ( 3 out of 5 didn't work in the room), so we had to use one power point in the bathroom to charge my mobile phone at night. I like to have my phone beside me during the night, so wasn't ideal. The pillows were thin pieces of foam and were disgusting. There were no tissues is the room, and when I asked housekeeping I was told to use toilet tissue. I asked at reception for tissues and was handed 2 travel packs. Not sure if I have ever stayed in a hotel with no tissues. Also the rooms didn't have a fridge. The breakfast was average (limited options), and the room it is held in was like a cheap cafeteria. We had breakfast the first morning but chose to eat elsewhere the other 2 mornings. This hotel isn't cheap and I think other hotels offer better value for money. The location is great for using the Metro, however there are a lot of undesirable people in groups in the surrounding streets, sitting around drinking etc. A lot of empty alcohol bottles and broken glass everywhere. There are a few clubs in the nearby streets that are open till late that make it feel a little unsafe. As I mentioned, I just don't get all the glowing reviews.

Dear Jane, Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. We are delighted that you found our location convenient, set in the heart of the city with many attractions such as the Colosseum and Roman Forum within a short walking distance. However, we are sorry that your stay did not fully meet your expectations. We understand that the perceived lack of tagging in our luggage hold area may have caused concern, and we want to assure you that we take the security of our guests' belongings very seriously. As for the room size, our rooms adhere to the regular standard size for a three-star hotel in Rome, certified by the Tourism Office of Rome. Regarding the cleanliness, we aim to maintain the highest standards and will address this feedback with our housekeeping staff. We are also in the process of updating our facilities, including power points, to enhance our guests' convenience. Furthermore, we provide breakfast with a selection of options, and we regret to hear that it did not meet your expectations. Our reception team is always on hand to assist with any needs, such as refrigeration and we will take your comments and suggestions into consideration as we continuously strive to improve our service. As for the concerns about the surrounding areas, the safety and comfort of our guests are of utmost importance, and our location benefits from frequent patrols by the local authorities. We hope that you will allow us the opportunity of providing you with an improved stay in future. Best regards, Mr Stefano Ricci, General Manager

We booked at the end of April - beginning of May 2024. In the run-up to our arrival, we always received information very quickly and correctly through the reception. The various receptionists were very willing to help us. A taxi to and from the airport was correctly arranged for us - the agreed amounts were correct, the service was perfectly OK. Once on location, we noticed: very friendly and helpful staff - no effort was too much for them; We had the most contact with Tommasso at the reception (11 points out of 10 ... we would have liked to have him with us on all our day trips given his enthusiasm and broad knowledge of all the sights ... unfortunately this was not possible). Every evening after a day trip of more than 22,000 steps, it was wonderful to relax on the ROOFTOP roof terrace with - again - a very helpful waiter LUCA ... the panoramic view was truly sublime and an absolute added value to this hotel ... luckily we had 3 out of 5 days, blue skies and very sunny weather (with temperatures of plus 25 degrees) ... in case of rain, the rooftop terrace remains closed and the bar downstairs is opened ... quite a different experience ... we hope in good weather.
Breakfast is not very extensive, but it is well maintained and sufficiently varied ... special requests for all kinds of coffee can be addressed personally to the serving staff. Here again: very helpful and professional staff to serve you according to your needs.
The hotel has 7 floors of 6 rooms (do the math yourself, so it's quite small) - the rooftop is on the eighth floor. There is only 1 elevator with a capacity for 4 people and sometimes this requires a bit of a wait... you can always take the stairs...
The rooms are very basic (no mini-bar) and look a bit outdated (certainly in terms of the number of sockets and their accessibility) but are very acceptable for a *** hotel (the intention is of course that you spend as little time as possible the rooms). Separate area to temporarily put your luggage aside at check-out pending departure.
Location is not central but still well located with the Colosseum a 15' walk away and many nice restaurants to eat out in the evening... plenty of suggestions... were given by the ever friendly receptionists... we especially remembered Trattoria il Tettarello in Via dei Capocci.
Would we return here? Yes, but next time we will look for a different location depending on the things we want to visit.

From start to finish our stay at this hotel was lovely, the reception staff are so friendly and helpful. The location of the hotel is good and we found this really well located for the sites but also far enough from a main road so you avoid the noise and chaos of some of the larger roads. The room itself was clean and well maintained with a lovely large window which could be fully opened, and always plenty of towels which was definitely a bonus. Breakfast was good, plenty of choice of both hot and cold options with cereals and cakes too. The rooftop bar is a little gem and I can imagine in summer its the perfect spot to take in the views. The hotel requires you to leave your door key with reception on leaving for fire safety which we had no complaints with and the reception staff remembered us and what number room we were on returning which was a nice touch. On checking out it was required to pay city tax which was 36 euro (2 person, 3 nights). Overall we really enjoyed our stay and we hope that we will visit again in the future :)

Starting with the friendliness of the bearded staff member who helped me check in, I was also satisfied with the condition of the room, cleanliness, and water pressure in the shower. There was also a view from the rooftop terrace, and I think this is a great hotel with nothing to complain about or lack.
The breakfast menu was also extensive, so even if I stayed multiple nights I was able to enjoy different flavors.

Favorite Rome hotel but missed this time around. When I reserved my room, I requested a room with a bigger shower, some rooms have bigger showers than others. Did not receive the size shower I expected, mentioned my request at check-in and still received a shower that did not meet my needs. This is unacceptable to me.

Good hotel in a very central location, very close to the Colosseum and convenient for walking, we have never used any means. Special praise to all the hotel staff who always give you a smile and strive to satisfy the customer, bravo! Rich sweet and savory breakfast, nothing is missing. Beautiful terrace from which you can admire the whole city. The only note, for which we do not assign the 4 bullets , concerns the room on the fifth floor which, in our opinion, was a little too simple and basic, we thought better but still spotless.
