Having booked our reservation two months in advance and then called the day we were arriving to advise of a late arrival and verify that our room would be held...you can imagine how we felt when we showed up and were told that there was "problems with the system" and the hotel had been overbooked. What happened from there was...

A very nice hotel with no frills. The lobby is really a small front hall, there is no bar, the elevator is tiny, and the breakfast room is simple. But the hotel is clean and decorated nicely, and it is air conditioned. It is a super choice for people who want a safe, clean hotel rather than a hotel where...

This "diamond in the rough" hotel was ideal for our four night stay in August. A modest yet comfortable hotel room which met our standard needs. We wanted a safe. clean, comfortable, reasonably priced hotel with air conditioning. Our accomodations were met and we were overly satisfied with the helpful hotel staff who communicated in English. The room was simple...

Average Hotel, but in a great location close to the Castel Sant Angelo, Basilica but also within walking distance of the main shopping areas and restaurants. Room was clean with good aircon as it was quite humid during the visit, bathroom was really clean etc. There was a TV which didn't get used as there is just too much to...

Excellent locaction, friendly, helpful staff. Stayed for 3 nights in August and could recommend this hotel to anyone and we will certainly be using it again next time in Rome. This is not a "top class" hotel with all of the frills but it is extremely clean and everthing is on the doorstep. The staff go out of there way...

Went there with a friend and stayed for 2 nights. Hotel is just across the bridge some 15 minutes away from Piazza di Spagna, and slightly further to the Vatican. Be sure to visit Castel Sant'Angelo nearby - the secret passage between this and the Vatican was open the weekend we were there (only one weekend every year!) and there...

I stayed in this hotel the last week of July and found that the hotel met all expectations. Very close to all the major tourist attractions - the only disappointment was the breakfast which was ok, not great. The staff were very pleasant and the room was very nice, marble bathroom and air conditioning. In few mins walking distance to...

I stayed at the Diplomatic Hotel for 25th-29th June 2005 and would hesitate to recommend this hotel to anyone looking for an over priced guest house in a central location. This hotel or should we say guest house has a very small reception area on the ground floor. The breakfast room and terrace are on the first floor with a...

Having stayed the previous week at a hotel similarly located for less money, was disappointed in the ambience and service. Rooms were very, very dark with no control over the room temperature. Front desk was not helpful with directions unlike our experience at other hotels and somewhat standoffish when asked questions such as cost of in-room phone calls and the...

We stayed at the Diplomatic Hotel for 4 nights in June 2005 and would recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a reasonably priced hotel in a central location. The room was a reasonable size and the bathroom, though small, was new and very clean. We were on the fifth floor at the back and it was very quiet. Breakfast...

Staying in Prati

Neighbourhood Profile
Prati
Just steps away from the chaos of the centre, Prati is the closest Rome gets to calm. Meticulously planned in a neat grid, quite unlike neighbouring Borgo, Prati is a local favourite for its aesthetic organisation and wide streets lined with a range of boutiques for every shopping fantasy. Nonnis pushing baby carriages and gossiping teens own every inch of the sidewalk, but that’s only during business hours. Once the sun sets, quirky sidestreet bars celebrate aperitivo hour, those evening cocktails that help wash away the tensions of Roman life.

Welcome to the Hotel Diplomatic. A truly memorable holiday. With its gold and marble decor and high ceilings, in the Italian late 19th century style called Umbertino, the Hotel Diplomatic is considered a "classic" Roman hotel, thanks to its timeless elegance. The hotel is appreciated by both business and leisure guests, especially for its strategic location, between the world famous Vatican Museums and the fascinating boutiques in the environs of the Spanish Steps.
