My husband and I stayed at the Hotel Cortina for an extended weekend in Rome following a business meeting. The room was very pretty and exceptionally clean. The bathroom was a very comfortable size. All of the staff we encountered at the front desk were very friendly and accommodating. The Continental breakfast was good and included cereals, meat and cheeses,...

We stayed in apartment B which had an extra bonus of a large balcony which we used every day. The staff at the hotel were the best we have experienced in all our travels. Luca greeted us late at night and made sure we were comfortable. Gianni could not do enough for us, all our requests were answered and filled...

A great find in the centre of Rome. We stayed in apartment B, just around the corner from the hotel itself. Lovely apartment, the only thing it did not have was a washing machine, but that was not a problem the lovely man right next door at the internet cafe washed and dried a whole bag for $10. We walked...

a lovely hotel in the center of Rome which i would frequent again at any one time. the rooms were clean, it had an old elevator. the vendor machine somehow did not work, i mentioned it to the receptionist, but i didn't get any refund for what i'd try to buy, but that is a minor issue. i was there...

The location, breakfast, and room were great. But the service from Gianni was exceptional !! He went way above anything we could have expected to make our visit fantastic. He made phone calls for taxi service. He directed us to sites. Helped us navigate the train. He made us LAUGH the whole time we were there.

We stayed in the Hotel Cortina for three nights while touring around Rome. It is in a great area close to trains, metro, shops and many cafes, plus an Irish Pub next door. The hotel is very appealing being an old building with marble floors and an old lift. The hotel is on the first floor. Reception is lovely, the...

This was our second time staying at the Cortina. We loved it the first time so we definitely wanted to stay there again. The rooms are comfortable and the staff is very accommodating. The breakfast room is tiny but the staff brought us coffee and croissants in our room when we had to wait (all of 10 minutes). The location...

We stayed in Apartment A which was beautiful and a huge apartment. There were biscuits, condiments, etc. We had two large bedrooms because we wanted some sleep. We had no complaints except that the lift is tiny and there is only one set of keys and we found them difficult to use. The breakfast room is small and can get...

The staff were exceptionally kind and they really put in every effort to help us enjoy our stay in Rome. Great hotel, very close to the Metro station (5mins walk, Vatican City is 3-4 stops away), and very close to almost all touristic locations in Rome. (i.e. colosseum is 10-15mins walk). In addition to hotel being in the centre of...

This is a small, we'll run, conveniently located hotel which offers clean well presented accommodation. The bed was comfortable, there always hot water for the shower and breakfast was standard continental. All members of staff were friendly and helpful, providing us with a map and the shortest way to walk to the attractions - non of which were more than...

Staying in Esquilino

Neighbourhood Profile
Esquilino
Old school vibe from the very beginning is the only way to describe the Esquilino neighbourhood. The Esquilino takes pride in being one of the oldest areas in Rome for its key location on one of the city’s famous seven hills. From an ancient neighbourhood to its modern incarnation as a multicultural hub, Esquilino always has something going on—polyglot vendors debate street artists while kids play pick-up basketball games. Look around you: this area isn’t like the historic centre. Liberty architecture, large piazzas, and long boulevards mix with archaic arches, secret side alleys, and beautiful churches like Santa Maria Maggiore.
