We stayed in this lovely hotel for 4 nights. We had a large 5th floor room which was excellent. It has a very large bed, plenty of space and a large, well appointed, bathroom. The bed was harder than we are used to, but a good quality one and very welcoming at the end of a long hot day sightseeing!...

We stayed at this hotel for for 3 nights. We loved this hotel, especially the rooftop garden. The first thing we did when we arrived was to sit and have a nice cold beer in the rooftop garden and enjoy our first view of Rome. The hotel was clean and comfortable. The breakfasts were very good, and the service was...

We just got back from Rome and I can honestly say it is in my top 3 favorite cities. The Macella Royal Hotel however most definitely did not live up to expectations or the rest of this fabulous city. Firstly, it is not 'close' to any landmarks. It is not a far walk (circa 30 minutes), but if you are...

This was our first trip to Rome and we will definitely be back - and definitely to the same hotel. The location was ideal, sufficiently remote from the bustle, but only a short saunter away. We were welcomed (in English) as if we were valued friends. The staff were all very friendly and every one of the reception and bar...

Set in an excellent location for The Roma Terminii. (10 minute stroll). Same again for Republicca Metro station. Can't understand why people would complain about being exhausted walking when the metro is closeby and provides excellent service to all the major attractions and countless not so major! The breakfast was reasonable buffet but wouldn't look forward to it for more...

We really enjoyed the Marcella Royal. It's in a great location in Rome - away from the bustle, but definitely within walking distance of the sights, and not far from the train station. It's on a quiet but interesting little street. Our room was beautiful - not huge, but good enough, and the staff was very helpful. The rooftop terrace...

I was very impressed when we first got to the Marcella Royal. It was a short 10 min walk from the train station, and was in a nice area. The rooftop breakfast terrace was stunning, with the best breakfast buffet of any place we stayed in Italy (fresh pastries, meats, cheeses, scrambled eggs, bacon, American coffee). We wished we would...

The main thing to say is that the Marcella is the tale of two very different hotels which might explain the contrasting reviews. When we arrived, we were checked into a room on the fifth floor which looked like it had seen an explosion of an overpowering floral pattern - it was on the wallpaper, bedding, curtains, wardrobe and interconnecting...

We have just returned from a short break at the Marcella Royal. The hotel is well located for all the sites and is a short walking distance from most. The area surrounding the hotel feels safe at all times of the day/night and plays host to several good and reasonably priced restaurants. The hotel staff were friendly and helpful. The...

Staying in Ludovisi / Via Veneto

Neighbourhood Profile
Ludovisi / Via Veneto
Thanks to Fellini and La Dolce Vita, the Ludovisi and Via Veneto neighbourhood earned its reputation as a posh area where gorgeous Marcellos wooed actresses and models while bored housewives hung out in streetside cafes. The cafes are still there, and so are the cocktails, but the neighbourhood is now home to five-star businesses including hotels, banks, law firms, and embassies. The area is also right next to Villa Borghese, a beautiful park for sporting and cultural adventures. If you're looking for tranquility by night, this may be the place: Ludovisi and Veneto tend to shut down after 20:00.
