Rooms are clean, beds are comfortable. Breakfast is terrible, old bread, tiny cups, poor selection. The warm water did barely exist in two of the rooms we had, we had to chase the drops coming out of the shower in two of the rooms … in the other bathroom the water flooded the entire bathroom out in the room and...

When our plans changed for staying in our usual Rome Hotel, we found the D"Este right next door- not what we are used to, but for 2 nights it was ok. Typical old furnishings, adequate room, but had a really good breakfast buffet

Great location, close to a beautiful church and square. Shopping is nearby, grocery store as well. The beds are super uncomfortable, the staff is really rude, can't be bothered to answer your questions and make you feel stupid. The buffet breakfast is the same every day, not fresh, poorly put together. Would likely not stay at this hotel again, I...

We spent a week here from 20th to 27th March. We'd read the reviews after booking and we're a bit concerned. The hotel is near to the Termini but we didn't encounter any problems. We had read reports of beggars etc but to be honest they are in all parts of the city. The hotel is also very close to...

We chose this Hotel for the location. We arrived by pre booked taxis. Very friendly reception. The hotel was litteraly mid renovation, there were workmen building furniture in the hall ways and old furniture stacked outside! It did not effect us in anyway our room wasn't quite finished decor wise and a mix of new/old furniture but it was very...

Very good location. Very clean hotel undergoing refurbishment. Staff pleasant and helpful. We stayed in room 408. First evening no hot water , reported this which was attended to, although there was only ever a dribble of water from the shower head/bath. There were some late night very noisy guests in nearby rooms to us on 2 out of 4 nights...

I booked this hotel purely because it was right in the centre and was a bit worried after reading some of the reviews... However I needn't of worried. When we arrived the hotel looked as if it was at the end of redecoration/refurbishment and looked lovely inside. We had the double room (406) which had a little balcony over seeing...

A lovely little hotel not far from Termini. Has a metro at the end of the street so transport links are not a problem at all. Awesome location and a good price considering. Was having some work done when we were there but didn't bother us at all. The work started at a reasonable hour and didn't continue late. Staff...

But do not expect a great breakfast. It is very clean and well located, but the rooms smell like an old house and the single one is too small. Also, they charged me at the beginning, what was not polite.

Staying in Esquilino

Neighbourhood Profile
Old school vibe from the very beginning is the only way to describe the Esquilino neighbourhood. The Esquilino takes pride in being one of the oldest areas in Rome for its key location on one of the city’s famous seven hills. From an ancient neighbourhood to its modern incarnation as a multicultural hub, Esquilino always has something going on—polyglot vendors debate street artists while kids play pick-up basketball games. Look around you: this area isn’t like the historic centre. Liberty architecture, large piazzas, and long boulevards mix with archaic arches, secret side alleys, and beautiful churches like Santa Maria Maggiore.
