We were upgraded to a three room suite, treated royally and thoroughly satisfied with our stay in Rome. The concierge desk was always accessible and every recommendation was spot-on. Comfortable, beautiful, grand and exciting. For a large hotel in a large city, these guys are doing it right! I don't recommend the spa, however, services were sub-par and the cost...

Dear Tripadvisor Thank you for your nice review and so happy to read you were satisfied with your stay I have also taken good note of your comments about our fitness. I should not call it a SPA as we have a large exercise room, an indoor swimming pool , sauna and steam bath and 2 treatment rooms but of...

One of Italys great Palace Hotels wonderfully located.Grand public Rooms and exceptional space. Beautiful Art Deco Bar with charming service. Rooms are quite large and suites are even larger. Very well decorated but Rooms are in need of updating. While well maintained, rooms and technology need updating. Helpful and friendly (if overworked) staff. Great Breakfast.

We stayed at the Excelsior for 6 nights in May. This hotel is a classic beauty, located in the Via Veneto District. It is within walking distance to the Spanish Steps, Trevi Fountain, Colosseum and Borghese Gardens to name just a few. We had drinks in the the lobby bar where the drinks and the service were excellent. There was...

Our stay was arranged by our Italian Tour and was 3 nights. When we arrived in our room, my first comment was "oh we got the anchovy room". A strong fish smell was had for three nights. The staff made excuses but did nothing. Three other rooms in our group had similar experiences. One of those nights included having a...

Dear Tripadvisor Thank you for your review and I apologize for not having met your expectations. As mentionned to other reviewers we have identified the smell issue in some rooms due to a fire retardant paint that was applied and we have almost fixed it As I do not know the days of your stay pls contact me at excelsiorrome@westin.com...

I was in Rome for a 5 days on a personal vacation with friends. Overall, i think this is an above average Starwood property but not stellar. Still, i would take an above average Starwood property anyday over other chains. Location I thought the location was fantastic, on via Veneto. Centrally located to most major attractions we were able to...

Although the bed and amenities are exactly what I have come to expect from Westin, there are a couple of things I did not like. Because you have to pay for wifi (one of my pet peeves) I was in the lobby of the hotel using the free version. The lobby is large and classically decorated but this is where...

Dear Tripadvisor Thank you for your review. I agree that the lobby can be busy at certain moments of the day. I will look into the quality of the croissants as well as make sure our staff waits longer in front of the door before entering. Needless to say that I will share your comments with the doormen. Stunning building not exaggerated by any of the photos on their site. Exactly as advertised - traditional luxury and elegance. Huge room overlooking the street but surprisingly little traffic noise. 5 minutes to the Spanish Steps so excellent location. I have two 'gripes' about this (and many top hotels for that matter). It seems the more you pay the less...

Dear TripAdvisor Thank you for your comments and qualifying us as “traditional luxury and elegance” The issue with the coffee maker and the iron boards is indeed a Westin standard but in Italy it is forbidden by law to have them in the guest rooms for security reasons. I certainly realize how inconvenient this is and regret it High speed...

Staying in Ludovisi / Via Veneto

Neighbourhood Profile
Ludovisi / Via Veneto
Thanks to Fellini and La Dolce Vita, the Ludovisi and Via Veneto neighbourhood earned its reputation as a posh area where gorgeous Marcellos wooed actresses and models while bored housewives hung out in streetside cafes. The cafes are still there, and so are the cocktails, but the neighbourhood is now home to five-star businesses including hotels, banks, law firms, and embassies. The area is also right next to Villa Borghese, a beautiful park for sporting and cultural adventures. If you're looking for tranquility by night, this may be the place: Ludovisi and Veneto tend to shut down after 20:00.
