The hotel needs a major uplift in the room carpets and overall updating. Service lacks for the expense, not typical of what we have seen. We were given an upgrade to a suite, while the room itself was huge and a very nice set up, couldn't imagine what a regular room looked like, old dirty carpets, wore house slippers the...

My husband and I were in Italy for 14 days with the last 3 days in Rome. Out of all the hotels we visited, we were most impressed with this Westin. Riccardo at the front desk went above and beyond to make sure our experience was memorable. When I told him it was our Honeymoon he gave me 2 different...

We have stayed in the Excelsior for many years. The service is superb and the beds are the best in Europe. The only problem that we have (only a small one) is the news that is available. The english speaking broadcasts are limited to bbc and cnn. The wifi default connects one to msnbc (journalist pornography). I understand that these...

Couldn't have picked a better place to stay in Rome; conveniently located near restaurants, transportation and walkable to key sites. Lovely property. Beautiful elegant rooms - felt like we were staying in a palace. Stayed in room 105 - great location overlooking front entrance of hotel - but didn't hear any noise. Magnificent marble bathroom, lots of closet space.

The Excelsior is (whisper it) somewhat past it, and in an area of Rome that is no longer the home of La Dolce Vita. But I liked it. Reception staff were courteous and friendly, the room was good value (although the cost of breakfast is high - that's more of a Rome thing, than an Excelsior thing) and the public...

I booked my room almost a year in advance and saw some of the more recent reviews just as I was about to leave for my trip, let's just say, I was nervous. As it turns out I had nothing to worry about, our room was very nice, quite large, very well insulated (so there little noise from other rooms),...

I recently stayed four nights with my wife and twin 17 year old daughters. I am a Gold SPG member and this is by far the worst SPG hotel I have ever stayed in. I used SPG points for two rooms and both rooms were old and musty with mold in the shower and sinks. Rooms 236 and 237, our...

The only good thing I can say was the shower had great power. The hotel was dirty and smelly. Our room was over the street and every night at 1:15 the garbage men were doing their job very loudly. Stayed here for a week and could not believe that a hotel could be this good. Exceptional service from one and all (exception for a couple of the concierges who seemed to know less than I did) but, if you want to be pampered and enjoy yourself in a beautiful city, this is for you.

We recently spent a week at the Westin Excelsior on a group function. Our rooms were assigned to us and my expectation was that they would all be first class anyways. Staying in Ludovisi / Via Veneto

Neighbourhood Profile
Ludovisi / Via Veneto
Thanks to Fellini and La Dolce Vita, the Ludovisi and Via Veneto neighbourhood earned its reputation as a posh area where gorgeous Marcellos wooed actresses and models while bored housewives hung out in streetside cafes. The cafes are still there, and so are the cocktails, but the neighbourhood is now home to five-star businesses including hotels, banks, law firms, and embassies. The area is also right next to Villa Borghese, a beautiful park for sporting and cultural adventures. If you're looking for tranquility by night, this may be the place: Ludovisi and Veneto tend to shut down after 20:00.
