A pretty hotel on a quiet side street. A bus close by went right to the Campidoglio and glam shopping on Via del Corso was a 2 minute walk away. We had two spacious rooms, as we were a family of five. Drinks on the Locarno rooftop terrace, and sunny courtyard breakfasts in the mornings were what visiting Italy is...

My husband and I spent 3 nights at the Hotel Locarno on our honeymoon this September. The staff went out of their way to make us feel welcome, even going so far as to fax the Vaticican for an English guided tour for us on very short notice. The wait and cleaning staffs were equally pleasant. As for the hotel...

My mother and I stayed at Hotel Locarno for four nights last week in a ground floor room of the hotel annex. We found it a charming hotel, but in much need of a stronger focus on service. The room was so charming and comfortable, and the patio and roof terrace perfect for a cocktail before dinner. The location was...

We (2 adults plus children 14 and 12) spent three nights at the Locarno 23-26 October. We had 2 superior rooms in the main building, 250 Euros per room. Rooms were comfortable and characterful, not particularly large but very clean. Both rooms had fabric-covered walls and antique furniture. (It may be that rooms in the newer building across the courtyard...

This hotel turned out to be perfectly situated for an event I was attending in Rome. I saw it advertised in a publication and coincidentally it was in the best location for me. The breakfast is one of the best and is offered until 11 am! The rooms are small but at least mine was quiet. The staff is very...

We stayed at Hotel Locarno for 3 nights at the end of September. The location is nice, within easy walking distance of upscale shopping streets, the Borghese Gallery and Park. The breakfast spread was quite large with plenty of choices, hot and cold. The garden tables are nice and the little roof garden is nice, too. The staff was VERY...

This is an interesting place that could be even better with some updating and a stronger focus on service. On the plus side, the location was great (near many attractions), the hotel has a lot of charm and the price was right (under $300 a night in a VERY expensive city). The outdoor patio was wonderful for breakfast despite the...

This hotel has great old world charm, with rooms that are clean, modern and very comfortable. It is located just off of the Piazza del Popolo, which everyone should see, and is also very close to the main luxury shopping streets. Just down the street are some excellent restaurants like Dal Bolognese (try the fruit sorbets for dessert, they're served...

I was very, very happy here--a donna sola. I stayed in the place across the street--the annex--and it was more private which i liked. Also, Khaled, the manager i believe, was very accomodating to me as my flight got in at 6am and check in is traditionally at 3pm and he let me have the room at 8 am so...

Could be a great place but ownership needs to invest in some updateing. Great location, great breakfast, cool bar/lounge area but carpets in lobby/stairs well worn (and needed a vacuming), tile and portions of wall in bathroom moldy, AC weak at best. Friends stayed in the annex and seemed to think rooms were better (and cheaper). I might be willing...

Staying in Campo Marzio

Neighbourhood Profile
Campo Marzio
From its original role as ancient army training fields to its present-day identity as one of the city’s most desirable neighbourhoods, the Campo Marzio is the best place to get lost in Rome. Gorgeous Renaissance and Baroque palazzos line the streets, and are filled with enticing boutiques and food shops. By day, Rome’s best-dressed denizens criss-cross its streets in a fashionable parade of errands, occasionally pausing to look fabulous in gorgeous piazzas like San Lorenzo in Lucina. Campo Marzio can be a bit of a sleeper after aperitivi hour (21:00), so visit by day and experience the pulse of daytime Rome.
