Location was great, two or three blocks down from Termini. Nice little building, greeted by the ever friendly Babu. Rooms were plain but clean. Babu went to great lengths to ensure that our air conditioning was working. Bathrooms were clean, and we had clean towels. Only downside is that the wifi can't really be accessed in our rooms, we had...

This was quite a bit different than what I expected. It is not labelled from the street, so you have to look at the street numbers. We finally found the place after walking past it twice and someone helped us find it. It is just part of another building, so you have to look for it as you would an...

We stayed for 5 days and considering this we should have asked for a quiet room as where we were given we heard everyone coming and going at night through the doors. Location is good rooms are ok some attention needs to be taken on little broken accessories. one day had no hot water but fixed quickly but not informed....

first of all thanks to Babu for everything. hotel is in an apartment which is just 2 min. away from the Termini. Babu gives you all the keys (even the apartments key) so you feel like your home. everything in the room is new and very functional. we loved the decoration of the room. our room was quite big and...

The cleaner was rude and I continued to say hi to her our whole stay and she never even gave me a smile! Bit awesome location and because we booked well in advance we got a great price. Although it was advertised they had a small kitchen which is not what they had at all...?

A casa di penelope is a hotel in a building of apartments, which is not bothering. The rooms are new, simple and modern. There was an everyday cleaning of the room. The breakfast was a couple of blocks away, coffee or juice and a croissant type sweet with cream or jelly, pretty good! Excellent cappuccino! The only thing that bothered...

From Termini we had direct access to all trains and buses which was great. As mentioned below - this is an appartment turned into a hostel. The rooms are simple (IKEA-style) but they have a good air-con and a new, clean bath. Having a dust-alergy I strongly prefer places w/o carpets - which is the case here. Unfortunately, no kitchen...

Staying in Esquilino

Neighbourhood Profile
Old school vibe from the very beginning is the only way to describe the Esquilino neighbourhood. The Esquilino takes pride in being one of the oldest areas in Rome for its key location on one of the city’s famous seven hills. From an ancient neighbourhood to its modern incarnation as a multicultural hub, Esquilino always has something going on—polyglot vendors debate street artists while kids play pick-up basketball games. Look around you: this area isn’t like the historic centre. Liberty architecture, large piazzas, and long boulevards mix with archaic arches, secret side alleys, and beautiful churches like Santa Maria Maggiore.

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
A Casa di Penelope" embodies a new concept of Hotel, a unique space with several rooms where art, atmosphere and hospitality blend together and create a fascinating path of sensorial involvement. Design... Comfort... Innovation... Location... Vision...every room is an open space designed to be a synthesis that gives a broad liberty of expression to our guests embraced by the milky white of our industrial resin floor. Hands... Mouth... The building is located in the Umbertin area very close to Termini station, 10 minutes by walk from the main important monuments of Rome like the Colosseum an the Roman Forum. The Vatican, the Spanish steps, Trevi Fontain, Piazza Navona are all no more than 15 minutes away from the hotel on public transport.
