The good: Location was great, very close to all the sights. The owner was very nice, friendly, tried and succeed to answer to all our questions and find the solution of all our problems. Also helped us with transportation to and from the airport. Good small European breakfast (not huge as in US). Big and very clean room. All small... More

Location was great, very close to all the sights and the owner was very nice. Very good breakfast and she helped with transport to and from the airport. The room was a long way up (4 floors) and the AC could not keep up with the July heat.

I was here for 4 days and it is in middle of the town near the Spanish steps and the Trevi fontein. It is maybe a 5 minute walk from the BB. The BB is nice and clean, a good host who will help you with anything. She serves breakfast and for Roman things it is good and enough. Teatro... More

The owners were friendly and extremely helpful. They served a lovely breakfast. The rooms were clean and functional. The location was excellent for walking around the old city of Rome. Great restaurants just across the street. Shops and beautiful sights nearby. Our room was 4 flights up which was fine for us but may not work for everything. The owner... More

We spent two nights at this wonderful old style roman guesthouse in central Rome, just next to Via Veneto. We had 2 rooms out of the 3 available, each quite large and with private bathroom. Common use of a small but nice kitchen. Only 2 small issues detected, i.e. Second floor, no lift in the building, important if you are... More

You would book La Casa del Capitano because you want to stay in characterful old property overlooking a historic square but can't afford what's on offer in, say, Piazza Navona or by the Trevi Fountain. Without that thought in mind, or something like it, there's not a lot of point because there are a few negatives about this place: a... More

This Bed and Breakfast was in a great location. In Piazza Bernini. It was close to the metro, across the street and we could walk to many sites. We walked to many churches, the Spanish Steps and the Trevi Fountain. the breakfast was very good and the room was quite large.

We had booked for 5 days at Casa del Capitano. A couple of days before our arrival, we received an email with instruction to ring the intercom button with the correct name. Reaching there, we were buzzed in immediately. It is 4 flights of stairs, no assistance with luggage provided, the housekeeping person let us in, showed us the room,... More

Unfortunately while we were their the Barberini fountain was undergoing maintenance, but realistically there was nothing our hosts could do about that. Staff were incredibly welcoming and helpful. The room was ensuite, large, air conditioned and wonderfully furnished. It is situated in a perfect part of Rome as all the attractions are within 10mins walking distance (we used taxis if... More

Staying in Colonna

Neighbourhood Profile
Colonna
Frantic fashionistas, pedicured politicos, goal-oriented tourists, and on-the-go locals cross paths every day in Colonna, a delightful chaos in the very centre of the city. Even though it has some of the city’s loveliest sites—a 2nd century column, Belle Epoque shopping centre, and a magnificent Baroque parliament building—Colonna is not just another pretty face, but the cosmopolitan eye of Rome’s cultural storm. Colonna can safely say it has the best of Rome: museums, boutiques, window displays, restaurants, cafes, and people watching.

“The rooms aren't numbered. One overlooks the square and so is noisier - but then again if you want peace and quiet...!”

“There were 4 rooms (as far as we could tell) and they all seemed of a similar standard. The staff also switched us to a bigger room because it was empty and they thought we might prefer it.”

“we saw all the rooms, and more family stayed in the room facing the side street. all rooms are nice with beautiful furniture and fabrics but the huge one facing the Piazza would be our first choice”

“This is not a hotel, so there's no telephone in the room so bring your cel or add time to your skype to make calls via your laptop since wi-fi is included. The phone cards sold at airports don't work with the public pay phones.”

“the rooms are set to accommodate single, couple, families with children and small groups to max of 6 people each room. the best room was our as it gave us a direct view on the Piazza”
