We were greeted by a very rude man at the desk to check in. Our room was tiny, the window was 1 metre off the footpath, we were directly above the main entrance, it was very noisy, and there was mould on the walls! We requested a different room the next day, no apologies were offered for such a bad...

Ok first of all this is my fifth time in Rome and definitely I did not choose this hotel also I wouldn't even consider it after looking at the reviews. But unfortunately this trip was all planned via an agency and I made a last minute booking to accompany a friend so I don't blame anyone. But I have to...

We stayed here in August 2013 for my 18th birthday and the trip was a present from my boyfriend. On arrival, I was pretty apprehensive as the outer hotel isn't very appealing. I was very pleasantly surprised when we got to our rooms to see a lovely large bed and a big enough room for two. The place was spotless...

This hotel is basic, but clean. Room was a bit dated- too much yellow for my liking but the bathroom was surprising modern, it was very small but the shower was pretty good. Breakfast was pretty simple- toast, cereal, croissants, juice etc. But nice enough. The location is brilliant- and it is fantastic value for money. It's 10-15 min walk...

just got back, the hotel is 20 mins from Termini which is not bad walking, however, it was a superior room costing £190 for 3 nights room only, the room was in the building beside the Midi Hotel, it was clean but the room was tiny, the shower door was broken and the water came rushing out when you had...

Hotel itself is a decent enough location, 10-15min walk from Termini, main station where coaches drop off from airports. 15-20min walk to the Coliseum. There were plenty of places to eat around the area Hotel itself is very basic, and outdated. There was a lot of damp on the walls in the bathroom, shower tray fills up when showering but...

I stayed in the building on the right of the hotel Midi. The hotel room was quite new, the air conditioner worked so well. There was also a hair dryer, not new but it worked anyways. The bathroom was clean and was equiped with a lot of towels. However there are 3 points that i dont like much. First the...

Great little budget hotel just down from Central Station. If you have a Rome Pass you can take the tram to just 1 block away, save the walk especially in the Summer heat. Rooms are small but functional. Had TV, big wardrobe, desk, safe mini fridge. Bathroom had all the amenities, fresh towels each day, soap, shampoo. Wifi was available...

Hotel was very close to the central station though you still have to walk for 15 mins from the main entrance. Room looked like newly renovated and luckily I had a room with a balcony! And it was very nice stay. Just few things were not working - TV, light and aircondition. There is a nice restaurant around the corner...

Staying in Esquilino

Neighbourhood Profile
Esquilino
Old school vibe from the very beginning is the only way to describe the Esquilino neighbourhood. The Esquilino takes pride in being one of the oldest areas in Rome for its key location on one of the city’s famous seven hills. From an ancient neighbourhood to its modern incarnation as a multicultural hub, Esquilino always has something going on—polyglot vendors debate street artists while kids play pick-up basketball games. Look around you: this area isn’t like the historic centre. Liberty architecture, large piazzas, and long boulevards mix with archaic arches, secret side alleys, and beautiful churches like Santa Maria Maggiore.
