Great value hotel. Not in the nicest area of Rome; (wouldnt have fancied walking late at night on my own but to be fair there's few large cities I would feel comfortable doing this now adays!!) Short walk to the metro which you can hop on and off around the city, Lovely smart, clean, elegant rooms and was nice to...

This is a nice small hotel , well kept and good staff. The Manzoni metro was near by and the Colosseum was walkable. Vatican had a direct train from Manzoni. However taxi was the most convenient way to travel if you wanted to go trastevere for yummy pizzas.Beware of the cabbies and the fares , we had mixed experience. The...

The hotel is not in a nice neighborhood. It's not especially close to any of the sights, although it's only a 7 minute walk to a metro station. The staff were not helpful in addressing problems. Our room was ant infested. We came back one evening to find the ants crawling all around our room and in the bed. We...

This hotel was amazing. We had our doubts when walking down the side street it is situated on, but as soon as my family walked through those doors we were amazed, its clean and quiet, and the chandelier just finishes it all off! breakfast is small but we were satisfied. The hotel itself is nice and clean, staffs are very friendly and helpful. However, the area around the hotel is not that safe, the first day we went back to the hotel early at around 5pm, and we had two guys following us at the last half block on our way back to the hotel, we tried to walk faster...

Staff were friendly and helpful and recommended local restaurant ( Bobos)which we went to 5 nights! The hotel is nicely decorated with marble floors in main rooms, and parquet ones in bedrooms and is being extended. Luxury chandeliers and stucco ceilings give it class. The beds were comfortable.Shower space is small but adequate. Dining room small so continental breakfast quite...

We got sent to this hotel after booking elsewhere with Air Miles only to find that the hotel was full, so it wasn't our first choice by any means. I'm female and was travelling alone and wasn't pleased when I turned up at check-in time after a 12 hour trip and was turned away because the room wasn't ready -...

We had our doubts. But when we arrived, we were pleasantly surprised. The staff were very helpful. Accomodation though small was excellent, very clean, wardrobe/drawer space limited, no tea making facilities in the room, but asked the staff about making a cuppa for us,no problem. Breakfast continental, adequate choice. There was some refurbishment going on during our stay, but this...

This hotel was more than adorable and spotless to boot. I would stay here again in a heartbeat! Cons - There were no tissues – the only thing around was pretty poor toilet paper. - No free internet – it costs a whopping 7 Euros for 3 hours, but was wireless. - There was construction right outside the window. It...

Having found this hotel on the net last minute , I can say that we had a pleasant 3 night stay in Best Hotel. The rooms are very, very small but very comfortable. Room came with LCD TV on wall, mini bar, wifi (at a charge) and aircon/heater and decorated tastefully. It seemed the hotel had very recently been renovated...

Staying in Esquilino

Neighbourhood Profile
Esquilino
Old school vibe from the very beginning is the only way to describe the Esquilino neighbourhood. The Esquilino takes pride in being one of the oldest areas in Rome for its key location on one of the city’s famous seven hills. From an ancient neighbourhood to its modern incarnation as a multicultural hub, Esquilino always has something going on—polyglot vendors debate street artists while kids play pick-up basketball games. Look around you: this area isn’t like the historic centre. Liberty architecture, large piazzas, and long boulevards mix with archaic arches, secret side alleys, and beautiful churches like Santa Maria Maggiore.
