Although the location is practical it's just in the darker areas surrounding central station. Homeless people all over the area sleeping under blanket on the pavement. However we never felt intimidated. The hotel itself is for Napoli standards well maintained. I would not recommend it. Positive: friendly and helpful staff. Everything is very clean. Bed was made everyday and perfect. Negative: noise from the courtyard, all day, every day. Local boys occupying the bar area playing cards. Cracking loud MTV music in the breakfast dining room. Mediocre breakfast. We visited the dining/breakfast room once. Our so called suite was a little studio with cheap bed on the split level. Wifi was incredibly slow. TV had 3 Italian channels. No coffee machine or water cooker. Fan in the bathroom was loud. Tip for the management: why replace all the towels and soaps everyday... even if the were not on the floor. to very sustainable and it doesn't make the hotel "grand".

Dear Guest, we are really sorry to read you had such a bad experience with us, especially because lot of your issues do not regard our hotel but the train station area. As you may know, the area surrounding the station may sometimes appear quite chaotic but it is the best way to visit our beautiful city and its surroundings. Our staff is always very helpful; next time please let us know about your disappointments during your stay, as we will do the best we can to fix them. Anyway, we will take good note of your suggestions. Sincerely, Grand Hotel Europa

What amazing hotel from entering to leaving I could not fault the service. We had booked half board and the food was amazing. I have worked in the hospitality industry for 30 years and know how hard the work is. How room was comfortable and spotless as was the rest of the hotel. Thank you for a wonderful holiday

Don’t go!! The noise is horrendous. There are drugs being sold outside on the street in front of the hotel. Don’t go. On the last night we have been bitten, as the window open. I can only assume the bedsheets haven’t been clean correctly. Horrendous hotel will never be back.

Dear Guest, thank you for your review. We always aim to deliver a great experience, and we are gutted when we don’t meet expectations. Thanks for taking the time to bring this to our attention. We will use the feedback to make us better and to ensure this doesn’t happen again. By the way, we put a lot of efforts to maintain our rooms cleaned and our bedsheets hygienized; probably a mosquito entered your room because it has been very hot in Naples during these last days. However, we will investigate deeper to fix the issue. Best regards, Grand hotel Europa

The hotel was pleasant just a shame of the surrounding areas not being that great (i think the only good thing was that it was right next to the station) sadly outside on the streets was full of homeless men who would harass us and beg for money (which we only had card). The room was a decent size and the same with the bathroom. The floor could of done with a very could mop/hoover as we found we’d end up having bits on the floor because clearly it hadn’t been cleaned properly thankfully i had a pair of flip flops i could wear around the room. The shower was a decent size but the shower walls clearly don’t get cleaner often as i spilt some purple shampoo in the wall by accident on monday and by time we left on the sunday it was still there. The bed was a decent size sadly just very very uncomfortable it was rock hard so we didn’t get much sleep over the past week. I cannot fault the staff as they was very pleasant sadly don’t think i would return to this hotel in the future

Check in was fine. You have to pay them hotel tax as an additional amount above your holiday cost that varies according to the hotel star rating. You are handed a room key with a heavy weight attached to it that has your room number. Also on it is a key to plug into the wall to turn the lights on in the room. There are two small lifts that accomodate about 2 people maximum to take you to your room, otherwise you can use the stairs. My room was very nice and it was clean. It had a reasonable sized wall mounted TV, a free security safe and a telephone. The room was cleaned everyday. There was no tea/coffee/kettle making facilities (as Brits prefer). You could ring room service to order a coffee or there are local cafes around the area. There is an air conditioner in the room that is operated by infrared control. You cannot set it any lower than 18c. The air con was needed! The shower had sufficient pressure. Breakfast was served in the basement area accessed by stairs and lift. The staff spoke some English although I wanted to improve my Italian speaking. It was continental (no English breakfast!) featuring cakes, cheese, hard boiled eggs, cured meats, tomato, juices, cereal, yogurt, fruit, bread/toast. TVs on the wall play a music tv channel. A fresh coffee can be ordered from the breakfast staff or you can use the self-service machine. There are two separate rooms for seating. Hand your key to reception if you are going out. Nothing to do with the hotel but some infomation about the area. Around the Napoli Centrale train station and in the Piazza Giuseppe Garibaldi there are a lot of north africans hanging around and sleeping rough overnight. I never received any trouble from them but mention it for info. Also sadly Italy has a very bad graffitti problem which lowers the value around the area. Very close to the hotel there is very good transport access with the mainline train station, the circumvesuviana train that runs to Herculaneum, Pompei and Sorento, metro and buses. The airport transfer bus Alibus drops you outside of the train station then it is just a short walk to the hotel. There are also electric scooters to rent outside. An enjoyable stay at this hotel in Napoli which I would do again.

When we entered the hotel we went into a lovely well maintained property that was full of character. Our rooms were nicely appointed with a small balcony overlooking the street. Public areas were very welcoming with a great bar serving very reasonably priced drinks. The breakfast was excellent with a very wide choice of items. Of particular mention must be Gino who looked after breakfast guests with such a genuine passion - a truly remarkable guy. All staff at this hotel were very nice and very helpful. Naples was a chaotic fascinating city and this was our respite into our quiet little haven.

Fantastic little hotel…… am not surprised it won the travels award 2022. All the staff are so helpful and nice. Rooms are spotless with ample space, even a Juliette balcony to watch the morning Sun and see the street below (it’s like an open air theatre) but don’t worry there is no noise at all once the doors are closed. There is fantastic shower and comfortable bed. Air con is just right. Safe deposit box too. Breakfast had a great choice, I didn’t eat much as was saving myself for a big lunch but everyone seemed very happy with what they had. Could not have asked for a better place. To stay as a solo traveller. This hotel is very close to the central Naples station…. Which gives you access to the trains/buses/metropolitana (tube) which is great fun and a good way to see this incredible City.

We spent just 3 nights here, so had a whirlwind break in this fascinating city. We’d love to return and see the bits we missed and would certainly stay at the same hotel. Its position is perfect for a short break - it’s so easy to get there and back on the airport bus, which stops a 2 minute walk away, and to get around the city from the nearby Garibaldi Metro (3 euros 50 for a day ticket, including the funiculars - hint, it’s quicker to buy from the booths rather than queue for the ticket machines) or on foot along one of the 3 straight routes into the old town, full of interesting little shops, pizza places etc once you get 10 minutes in from the station area. The hotel itself is spotlessly clean, quiet, and our room just over the main entrance was absolutely fine, with a comfy bed and a very efficient air con system and shower. It had plenty of storage space for clothes and toiletries, lots of towels, wooden shutters opening on to a tiny balcony, not big enough to sit on but great for looking out and getting a flavour of this chaotic and fascinating city. The staff are helpful and pleasant, particularly the cleaning team, who always had a cheery good morning for us. The immediate surroundings look more dodgy than they are. It’s next to the main station after all (hint, there’s an entrance into it through a gate across from the hotel a few yards up to the right). Yes, there’s a lot of litter, there are homeless people around and you’ll see drinking and weeing up against trees, but nobody approached us and we honestly never felt even slightly threatened in any way while we were in Naples. We paid next to nothing in our Jet2 package to have breakfast included, and it’s perfectly fine for a Continental breakfast - the usual cold ham, boiled eggs, cheese, plus pastries (grab the nut one if you see it - it’s delicious and goes quick!) and cake, fruit, toast, tea, chocolate and coffees. You can pay extra for some cooked items - omelettes etc, There’s no need to head into town for restaurants after a long day exploring. We ate at three very good ones on the doorstep - Ieri, Oggi, Domani, Hostaria Mediterraneo, I Sapori di Parthenope. Great pizza, pasta and wine and reasonably priced. We loved Naples and hope you do too - for a good introduction, try a free walking tour if you can. The one setting off on Monday at 1030h from Castell Nuovo was particularly good.

Dear Maggie, what a nice review. We really loved the detailed description of your room; it has been recently renewed and we are really glad you liked it. The station area may be a little messy sometimes, but it is also the best place to start your visit around Naples. Next time you will come to visit us, please try pour Restaurant La Falena; we would love to make it to the list of your favorite restaurants here in Naples. We will wait for you to come back. Best regards e un ciao da Napoli. Grand Hotel Europa
