I find it quite hard to review this hotel, because its a very mixed bag. The loaction is great (with one major exception), its in the hearth of the spanish quarter, with tons of restaurants, shops, cafes and bars in walking distance. Via Toledo and Castel Nuovo are also really close. Its a small hotel with really friendly and helpful staff, it has a lot of character and history, an old elevator, a living room / bar on the first floor and the breakfast room and roof top terrace on the second floor. For all that, I really loved the hotel. The two big "buts" are: - the cleanliness - the major things for me were clean: the toilet, the bathroom in general and the bed / but other than that, there was a bit too much dust / unclean surfaces, like on the desk or on the board behind the bed. I am really not at all fussy, and I think that issue could be solved very easily - the other huge "but" is not the hotels fault, and can probably not be solved - its the "party mile" near the hotel. There are several bars very close, and even with good windows, there is no way that the noise of the partying, which goes on up to 3:30am can be ignored. Its extremely loud, and it feels like its happening right in your room.

It was pretty dirty and not maintained well. The chair was wobbly underneath me. The bed was very uncomfortable. The room was so small, it was hard to even store the suitcase in it. The staff was nice and always available. If they cleaned and updated the room, it would be nice, but the biggest problem was the party atmosphere of the streets surrounding it. There is a giant street party every night right outside of the window where there is loud music and singing starting at around 7PM and going until midnight or later on weekdays and past midnight on weekends. There is no quiet or peace at this hotel. It is a nice location if you can get past these problems.

Service was good and friendly. I arrived early and was able to check in, which was a bonus. The room was small but had a comfortable bed, a nice hot shower, decent air conditioning and good WiFi. The hotel looks tiny from outside but inside it’s like a labyrinth with lots of different rooms and lots of different floors and an outside terrace/restaurant area. The place is full of character, and the location is great just a few mins walk from Toledo Metro station. As a female solo traveller I was a little concerned if I would feel safe at night as this hotel is up a sidestreet but I need not have worried as it was very busy at all times It was a little noisy but not enough to prevent me from sleeping. I’d stay here again.

This is a good hotel with a perfect location. There's no luxury but all is clean and correct. The staff is very friendly and helpful. Ask them for the dinner places and the places to visit. The hotel is at one of the main streets of Napoli

A friend recommended and booked this hotel, when we looked at the images we thought ok, its modest but as long as it is clean. We will be out most of the time anyway. We could have booked another 4 star hotel nearby for 15 euros more but we decided against changing so we did not offend our friend. The hotel may have been like the pictures once upon a time but not anymore. This hotel needs a complete revamp. Upon arrival, we walked up cobbled street, it's right in the middle of the Spanish quarter so if you like noise and hustle and bustle 24/7 you will be ok. It didn't look too promising from front door but you know we held off, the reception is very small and old fashioned but lots of hotels in Italy are like this. The owner was very welcoming and put our luggage in the lift and we went up the stairs. The stairs were dirty and had obviously not been properly cleaned. Bear in mind that this is August 2020 after Covid, I have been to other hotels in Italy since re-opening and they are very strict, gel, temperature taking and cleanliness is tip top. We went to go to our room but he only opened the door slightly and said the room wasn't ready. So, this made me think they were not adhering to the 24 hour vacant policy all hotels have had to adhere to since Covid. We put our cases in the bar area, I looked at the coffee machine and the bar area was filthy. I didn't take anything to drink in hindsight we should have left then and there. I also did not take breakfast once after going upstairs and seeing old food lying beside door. We didn't we went out for a walk and came back much later. The room was small fro three people, but that was ok as long as it was clean. Long story short, we stayed five days we should have checked out but Fawlty towers has nothing on this place. It was not clean, the headboard was plastic and was covered in dust and sticky so the dust had been there a long time. I had one shower because the shower head was disgusting. The one time I did have. shower there were no towels when I called down to reception they didn't have any in the end the guy brought me 5 bidet towels!! I am 5' 11 so that was a bit of. joke. The floor in our room was sticky and was not clean, I took flip flops because I knew it was not going to be the kind of hotel that had slippers at the end I threw them away I did not even want to put them in my case. After three days and numerous people checking out, one couple came outside and said they saw their room and about turned, they would not stay in anywhere so dirty. The next day the owners put up a letter on the front door saying they had passed an inspection for Covid in Feb, but this was on their own headed paper and if you see genuine letters/certificates they are from the Italian communes, so they had just written it themselves. Also, Covid only started in February in Italy and the lockdown didn't begin until mid March so I don't know how they could have foreseen they would need a clean bill of health. The most worrying thing was, on our return we read more than the first 5 reviews and there was one from a previous guest who alleged that she had been assaulted by the owners son in the hotel. So, I think female traveller should be warned about this. On about the 4th day of our stay they actually got a cleaner in, I nearly took the hoover from her and hoovered our room, it did get. hoovered on the 2nd last day!! Never again. If you are a student and don't care about cleanliness, just want a bed and don't mind noise all night then this might be fine for you. For me it was a step up from a doss house. Spoiled our break. I have read these other reviews and I can't see how this hotel could deteriorate so quickly so it makes me doubt the reviews are genuine. The dirt in the bar area was not just a few months of lockdown dirt it was ingrained.

Hotel Toledo is in a awesome location. Easy access, safe, and very alive zone. The facilities are good, great staff, very friendly and kind. The hotel is not very new, but everything works properly. The breakfast at the roof top is delicious. It only could be a problem to light sleepers or people who are searching to relax. There’s a bar down at the street that has a lot of noise everyday until around 12 am.

We are budget travelers and came upon this hotel from a social media recommendation. Crazy, right? After aimlessly driving up and down narrow streets and somehow managing to run over families lounging outside their doors, we called Hotel Toledo and asked if they had a parking garage recommendation. They did and great directions found us only a few blocks aways. As we were traveling as a quartet, we were given adjoining rooms on the top floor. Clean and cozy (ie. don't think you're going to squeeze a family into one room), no frills attached except there were drinks in the in-room refrigerator! Our back door opened up onto a roof top terrace, around the corner from the breakfast room. We were quite happy to call this place home for two nights. The hotel's location is great for anyone visiting Naples. Toledo Metro Station is two blocks away and from there, you can get to Garibaldi station for the local train to Pompeii. The waterfront is a short walk away as is the archeology museum. There is a bar around the corner that caters to college-aged kids. Many of the drinks are only one euro. We were worried the noise would keep us awake but we didn't have an issue from our room. The evenings wrap up pretty early by American standards. If you've never been to Naples, the entire city has a gritty feel. But as this location is two block from one of the main tourist shopping areas, the police and military presence made us feel quite secure. Breakfast is adequate. All we need is good coffee, yogurt and a croissant. Hotel Toledo delivered. We will definitely return on our next trip to Naples. This was our second visit but not our last!

My wife and I enjoyed a seven-night stay in September 2019, staying in room 212.This double/twin is a quiet room, away from the noisy cheap drinks street outlet on the other side of the hotel,.and allocated to us as we requested a quieter room. The room has brown furniture, a wardrobe, a desk and chair, a large double which can be split into twin beds, a full-length mirror, a small safe, an en-suite with shower/bidet/washbasin and toilet, and is spotlessly clean. The TV channels include five in English, all news-based. Wifi is sometimes variable but usually OK. This is a very old building, and those expecting to stay in a modern plastic palace run by a chain should look elsewhere - the staff here are what makes this such a great place to stay, always ready to help and give advice. One or two anomalies were addressed, e.g. I mentioned that there was no tea in our room other than green tea and decaffeinated tea, and there was no coffee alongside the kettle. The answer was that anytime you want a cappuccino you ask and they make one fresh for you. The area is scruffy and graffiti-ridden once you leave the main street (Via Toledo) but at no time did we feel less than comfortable walking to or from the hotel, even in the latter part of the evening. Breakfast is a standard European offering, cheese and meats, fruit, yoghurts, cereal, cake, toast, croissants, hard boiled eggs, etc. Any croissants not used at breakfast service are placed under a cover in the bar for clients to take to eat later in the day. The rooftop terrace was a pleasant location for breakfast, and is available for guests to use throughout the day and evening. Reception is staffed 24/7, and each time you arrive at the hotel you buzz to be let in (always immediately) There is a 4-person lift to all floors. The location is great for sightseeing, 10 minutes from the port, three Metro stops to Centrale station, five minutes' stroll from the funicular, five minutes to the Royal Palace and Castel Nuovo. Take my advice - book!

Very nice staff, beautiful roof deck, great location, but terrible stench coming from the bathroom sewage system that permeates the room. The continental breakfast is meh. This last criticism should make you stay away.
