And then we were treated like hell, dumped in a taxi! We arrived at 11:30 only to be told that due to much ”water” the room was not available and that we should go to another hotel of the group, the Majestic. Only two minutes away we were told - more like 15 and definitely a 2 star hotel at best. Even the driver of the cab laughed at the poor excuse - he knew the hotel was full and that they had sold our room to someone else

The hotel is beautiful large rooms, large bathrooms and very clean. The 7th floor for breakfast was breathtaking. The views sitting outside were fabulous. The service was terrible. We spent our time trying to get someone's attention. The front of house for check in and check out was painfully slow. Felt like we were putting them out when we asked for a pot of coffee at breakfast. No fresh orange juice all juices were very sweet. No water in the room which is a must every day. Very expensive for the service we received.

Nice hotel but there are far better, more modern hotels in that immediate area, which we should have stayed at. On arrival, the check-in process was delayed and we were ignored. The rooms smelled quite musty and the bathroom wasn’t good. When going up to the rooftop bar for evening drinks, we were constantly ignored, even when you gestured or asked to place an order you’d wait an eternity. At night you could hear heavy furniture being dragged along the floor and the actual hotel bar was obsolete. Not good enough for a supposed 5 star hotel where you expect staff to be welcoming and friendly. Though the balcony outside our room had a nice view (which of course is extra) we certainly wouldn’t stay at this hotel again.

Everything about the hotel was wonderful. It had the old world charm of Europe (originally built 120 years ago) with all the modern amenities. The room and bathroom were both large and well-appointed and the view from our balcony was amazing. The breakfast (which was included) was delicious and the choices were extensive. The view from the seventh floor dining room terrace where it was served was spectacular. The service was uniformly excellent and always attentive. But the most special thing was Sara, the concierge. She was charming, efficient and a perfect ambassador for the hotel. She met us at reception with a huge smile, escorted us to our room, took great pride in the pleasure we obviously demonstrated with the room and the view and then later steered us to a wonderful restaurant In the marina within view of the Hotel front steps. She solved any problem we had and gave us unfailingly good advice when asked. She welcomed us to Naples and the Excelsior in the best possible manner and set the tone for a wonderful visit to Naples. Though the cost of the hotel is not cheap, It is moderate and I cannot imagine a better value for money. One would have to be crazy not to stay here whenever visiting Naples David S.

Incredible three room suite with seafront views from every angle. All the windows have electric black out (storm, light, sound) screens which when they went up gave us the incredible view of Mt. Vesuvius and the Castel dell'Ovo. The suite was three very spacious rooms with high ceilings and Murano chandeliers. The service and rooms were magnificent! The front desk concierge were exceptional booking restaurants for us. We ha dinner that first night on the rooftop terrace restaurant with the stunning moon lite night views. Again the service and food was grande!

This is a hotel in a great location. There are a couple of nice hotels next to it but I think that Excelsior has the best location and service. It's an old hotel built in the early 1900's and still has all the amenities of a modern hotel. Classic beauty and decadent architecture. Great views of the castle and the Vesuvius in the distance.

Stayed for 3 nights and absolutely loved it. The Junior Suite was worth every penny. You can't beat waking up to panoramic views over the Bay of Naples every morning. It was big and bright with a separate sitting area, huge bathroom, and balcony. As many have said, the furnishings are certainly a bit old fashioned, but they were in good condition and just added to the authentic charm of the hotel. Check-in and check-out were quick and easy and the front desk staff was helpful and friendly. Breakfast was good with plenty of options and served in a beautiful ballroom. Within easy walking distance to the city center, ferry terminal, great restaurants, shopping, etc. Would definitely return.

I really enjoyed my stay here- we got a sea view suite for a fabulous price and we weren't disappointed. Huge windows, comfortable bed, spacious lounge and study. Small sun lounge, lovely large terrace by the restaurant. The internal communal areas are slightly dated, but you're not spending much time there. Breakfast was average, and service varied, but location is great and rooms are fab

Hotel is great. Beautiful building. Staff is very helpful. Nice decadent feel, perfect for Naples. View from the rooftop bar/restaurant is the best in town. Bathroom was spasious. We had a nice balcony with a beautiful view. The room only smelled a little moldy, but that went away with a little ventilation. Aircon was good. Breakfast was rich and versatile. Everything was well worth the cost. Thank you!

I have visited the hotel about twenty years ago, and it was my choice to visit it again because of its excellent location and my good impression from the first time. It is still a Grand Hotel offering you almost everything. I had only a problem with the sockets (not receiving the power outlets we are using in Greece). However for my mobile I used the socket in the bathroom (for electric razors) and for my computer I used the adaptor provided for the kettle. During my stay I had a light dinner and breakfast every morning. The views from the restaurant / breakfast terrace are breathtaking. You can see from Capri to the south, Vesuvius to the east and Posillipo to the west and the Castel dell'Ovo in front of you. The breakfast was very nice with a wide range of choices, especially sweets; however there were no omelettes and fried eggs, only scrambled and boiled. But you could have smoked salmon with champagne!!! It is within walking distance from the centre of Naples, and there is a taxi rank 50m away. Finally, I had a problem when I was checking-out: the bill they presented me was 50% higher than the expected!!! and the response from the young lady in the front desk, to my note that this is not what I had arranged, was that this is what the hotel system shows!!! I had to show her copy of my arrangement in order to call a senior clerk to resolve the problem.
