In July last year, I spent four days in Capri for a friend's 10th wedding anniversay celebrations and stayed at La Minerva. One word sums up the experience - exceptional!

We stayed here for 2 nights in September and loved every minute of it. This is a beautiful boutique hotel with everything you could want. Close enough to the busy square, but far enough to enjoy the quiet and relax. We had a good, expansive...More
La Minerva is for me the standard bearer for the perfect hotel. The staff were exceedingly friendly and helpful, especially Antonino and Marco, the lobby was beautiful and welcoming, and our room was clean, spacious and absolutely lovely. We were brought a complimentary drink on...More

I agree with Brian M. that day trips are a hassle. Best to spend 4 nights in one spot, as each town offers lovely hikes and views. I have been to Capri 10+ times, most recently for a full week. There is plenty to do there, if you like to walk. Positano is fun for no more than 2 days. I love Calabria: Monopoli, Lecce, Alberobello. Unlike the Amalfi Coast, Calabria is a region in which you can stay at one place and make day trips as long as you have a car. The drive from Naples is about 2 hours and easy, and the Bari airport is a good hub.
